We want to wish our Associate Artistic Director, Audrey Dwyer a belated congratulations for her new additional role as Associate Artist in the École nationale de théâtre - National Theatre School of Canada’s 2020-2021 Directing Program!
We are so pleased to welcome this talented line-up of artists into our 2020/2021 Apprentice/Assistants program. Originally slated to work with us on our Mainstage and Warehouse productions in the 20/21 season, these artists have instead pivoted to new and innovative training opportunities at MTC. Together with each artist, we’ve crafted individualized work plans to ensure that our commitment to their training can still be fulfilled this season. Check this out! CBC’s newest Absolutely Manitoba documentary follows Vivi Dabee as she develops her first play for the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. Produced and directed by local documentarian Leona Krahn, it’s about the making of a 2019 fringe play titled Passing. Watch Vivi’s Vision on Nov. 14 at 7pm on CBC Television.
Royal MTC mourns the sudden death of Sue Groff, who worked with us for 32 years. Sue brought beauty to over 300 productions on our stages, and across Canada. Recently retired from her role as Head of Paint at Royal MTC, Sue was a passionate teacher, mentor, colleague and friend who supported and delivered the vision of countless designers and directors. Her skill and dedication were legendary, as was her strong will. A true artist, she was a gifted potter and expert gardener, and spent her happiest time at the lake. Cards and condolences can be sent to Royal MTC (by mail or email at [email protected]) and will be forwarded to Sue’s family. Flowers are gratefully declined but if friends wish to make a tribute gift please consider Save Our Seine River Environment Inc. or Royal MTC.

The funds will be divided evenly between Manitoba Opera, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Thank you Dr. MacEwan and happy belated birthday!
