Lest we forget.
As per the newest Ministry of Health policy, medical/surgical masks must now be worn by all Optometrists, staff, patients and visitors while in our clinic. While we will miss seeing all your beautiful homemade masks, medical masks are made to meet various international standards and are therefore much more effective against transmission of COVID-19. To learn more about the policy: http://www.bccdc.ca//D/Mask_Use_Health_Care_Facilities.pdf For more information about different mask types: http://www.bccdc.ca//disea/covid-19/prevention-risks/masks
EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT: iLux MGD Treatments are now available at our office! Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is one of the most common causes of dry eye disease. The iLux is a handheld device which your Optometrist uses to efficiently target and tr...eat blocked meibomian glands using controlled (yet gentle ) heat and pressure. It’s quick (in-office treatment), safe, and proven to be effective for treating MGD symptoms. Cute lil snellen chart (by @vcoterie how beautiful are all those pins!?) to remind you to try to see the good in all things. At the clinic, we’ve been using this downtime to focus on some much needed organizing and administrative tasks. What are some pandemic perks you’ve come to appreciate? #gratitudepractice #selfcare #pandemicperks #optometry #optometryart
Happy Tuesday, friends! Do yourself a favour and read something for fun today not for the sake of finishing the thing that someone sent you that you feel obligated to read, nor for the sake of learning something you’ve been trying get yourself to learn but purely for the enjoyment of reading. Go ahead and get your reading glasses. Give yourself permission to read whatever your brain wants to no judgements. Too often we forget that reading can and should be enjoyable .
Happy Star Wars Day, everyone!!! Stay safe out there. May the fourth be with you.

We are currently offering the following services: - Urgent optometric appointments - Telephone/virtual consults - Pick ups - Contact lens orders (direct shipping available) ... - Eyeglass replacements & repairs Given the pandemic situation, we will not be offering routine eye exams or eyeglass adjustments at this time. Please continue to watch this space for updates as the situation progresses. We hope to resume normal(ish) operations very soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to get in touch with us! We’re here to help.
Our own Dr Roger Gafur saw a retinal detachment yesterday that most certainly would have resulted in this patient permanently losing vision in one eye had it not been caught so quickly. This is a good example of why we are open for urgent care only. If anyone is noticing any sudden changes in their vision please try and find an urgent care clinic that is open in your area. We understand many of our patients are afraid to go to the emergency room right now and also that there... is a 10-12 hour wait at times. Please call us first and one of our Doctors will discuss your case on the phone and then decide if you need to be seen physically in the clinic or not. If we do bring you in, all safety protocols will be strictly adhered to as per the Ministry of Health. If we find that you require surgery we will arrange for you to be seen directly by an Ophthalmologist and do our best to keep you out of the emergency room and primary hospital system during this crisis. https://www.facebook.com/715836140/posts/10157652698406141/?d=n
PSA: we are transitioning to urgent care only this week and reducing our hours and patient load accordingly. Reduced staff and doctors available 8am-4pm Monday to Saturday this week. #flattenthecurve
