Job Search Tips: Attend online networking events. There are so many opportunities when it comes to these events, you never know who you might meet. Sometimes it only takes one person or one message to jumpstart your career and these events are great learning experiences especially if you feel unsure about what you want to do. Update your LinkedIn and allow notifications when new jobs arise.... By having an updated online presence employers can see where you’re at right now and provide a positive and professional image. Take online certifications to amp up your resume. Are there any online courses that fit the job you’re looking for? There are tons of free content available online that give certifications and show that you are a go-getter. Volunteer. Although this may look different this year there are still plenty of opportunities to volunteer within the community and can differentiate your resume. There may even be online volunteer opportunities that you can do from the comfort of your home through technology. Reach out and use school resources. This is a big one. MacEwan has some amazing resources within the Career Development department that include help with your resume, career planning and assessment, interview prep, and so much more. Seriously this department may just be the best-kept secret and is amazing if you are struggling to find work or to figure out what you want to do.
