First day of Autumn The frost hit the last of our tomato plants last night so we spent some time this morning collecting all the green tomatoes. Well try some new recipes and attempt to ripen what’s left with a few different methods. We’ll have fun seeing what happens and which method works the best.
We got extra muddy this morning as we attempt to save some of our pepper plants this winter. We dug out some of the plants, rinsed off all the dirt from the roots (keep the bigs away), and replanted in fresh soil in pots. The guppies favourite part was rinsing the roots and getting me soaking wet. It sure was a chilly morning for it If we are lucky we may have a few peppers over the winter to enjoy
We harvested some of our large sunflower heads to take apart and save seeds. The best part is the hands on discovery.
Which fall critter comes next? Yesterday we worked on making patterns with bats , squirrels , and owls .
Fall on the Farm is in full swing here. Our acorn sensory bin is ready to explore with lots of hidden autumn surprises. Can you spot the signs of Autumn?
Reconnecting with nature and the earth with some yoga planet while outside. Each guppy picked a few cards they wanted to try and we slowly worked through them. Definitely a much needed activity after the full moon silliness this week.
Favourite part of the day. They love going into the gardens to pick their veggies for lunch. Today they all chose carrots
We also stopped to admire all the beautiful colours of our maple trees. While we travel the country (in the backyard) we have been able to discover how beautiful Canada is.
We stop on our travels towards the East Coast to onserve some of the Canadian wildlife. We found a fox, squirrel and porcupine.
How much corn can a Muddy Guppy shuck, if a muddy guppy could shuck corn? A taste of Ontario traditional food is part of our menu today.
Today the guppies asked if they could eat a watermelon for snack. Sure, we can try, but they may not be ready. We searched through the jungle to find the biggest one, thinking surely if it’s bigger than the rest, it would be closest to eat. Nope, not at all. Today we learned that we need more patience while waiting for fruit from our gardens. So today we ate apples as part of our snack, while the chickens enjoyed the watermelon.
