Muddy's Convenience 15.07.2021

It’s almost the end of the year. I’m not sure if we should be celebrating the end of a very challenging and scary 2020 or the beginning of 2021. Let’s all try to focus on the positive that hopefully we will experience in the next 12 months ahead of us. Nova Scotia and the rest of Atlantic Canada has set an example for the rest of Canada by following provincial protocol and remembering that everything we do either has consequences or a positive impact on our family and friends.... New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration. At Muddy’s our fireworks cabinet is overflowing with lots of fireworks to light up the sky with brilliant colours. If this is something you are interested in drop by and checkout what we have to offer. Enjoy the last few days of 2020 and look forward to better times ahead in 2021 and beyond. Your friends at Muddy’s. #goodthingstocome #doingitinwolfville See more

Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I posted a message online. Covid 19 has created fear and insecurity in all of us. Many good people have been temporarily laid off from their jobs because their employers could not afford to pay their wages. This is not what any employer wants to see happen. Many are left with working very long hours hoping that business will eventually pick up. Right now small businesses need your support more than ever, I heard a statistic today that quot...ed that more than 60% of shoppers are choosing companies like Amazon, Lob Laws, Walmart, Costco and Others as the place they spend their money while only approximately mid 30% is shared by small businesses. Don’t forget that we are the people that know you by name, give your pets a pat on their head and a treat, support your children in their sport of choice both monetarily and with encouragement. The hardworking business owners and their staff of the Annapolis Valley thank you. See more

Hi Muddy’s friends and hopefully friends to be. Operating a convenience store is a real challenge at the best of times, that being said the last three and half months since the covid 19 pandemic became real has created challenges we never expected to have to figure out. Right off the bat we were down 2 of our long term team members due to compromised immune systems which prohibited them from being able to work. This situation meant that we went from myself and four employees ...to myself and two employees available to work. My decision was to drop five hours off our operating hours. At my age working 10 to 12 hours a day Monday to Friday has been a very tiring challenge. All the new rules and regulations put in place to protect us and our customers are very important but also have added lots of behind the seen challenges. I am sure I would have had to shut down if it weren’t for the dedication of Lisa and Debbie who have been awesome, never asking for xtra time off that I would have to cover and being totally flexible should their schedule have to be changed on a moment’s notice. Also Pam, who has kept the books up to date and the bills paid. To make it more convenient for our valuable customers we decided that effective tomorrow August 1st we will be opening at 8 am and closing at 10 pm (possibly later depending on the number of Acadia students coming back in the fall) Thanks to everyone for their ongoing support and kind words of encouragement. Brian and the fabulous staff at Muddy’s. See more

Last night and this morning the small businesses of Wolfville received very exciting news when it was announced that Main Street would be returned to two way traffic again. Wolfville town council received 5 votes for and 2 votes against the motion to return things to normal. As a small business owner, having the north side of Main Street cut off from traffic created a significant decrease in business. Many vehicles went by heading east but few stopped to shop because of the ...heavy traffic volume. Front street merchants were not immune to a loss in business as well due to the huge increase in traffic trying very patiently to get back on Main Street and head out of town towards New Minas where their shopping dollars were being spent. The thing is how could anyone blame them. Bottom line is that myself and all the other business in Wolfville really appreciate the patronage of local people and have missed seeing your smiling faces. We look forward to serving you again and hope your shopping experience in Wolfville is positive. Thanks again Brian and the amazing staff of Muddy’s #backtonormal #doitinwolfville See more

A friend of mine told me about a special fishing hole where the trout were huge. Off I went there this morning hoping for the best. After a few hours of no luck something strange happened, all of a sudden a HUGE fish rose from the water and cast a fly line towards me. His aim was a bit off but he did manage to drive his fly hook through my pinky finger. Despite the extreme pain I managed to keep both feet on shore. I think I might have been food for the entire school of fish had his line not snapped. Now I’m off to outpatients to have my decoratively fly out of my finger. Last trip to my friends secret trout hole for me. Close call for sure !!!

It’s been a little more than three months since covid 19 was declared a national pandemic. My first and greatest fear was that I would loose the business that I have toiled over for almost 27 years. Businesses all around me were temporarily shutting down and it was uncertain if they would be able to reopen. I was concerned about getting sick or even worse having one of my staff get sick. My children were telling me that they were worried about me and thought I should close Mu...ddy’s temporarily. All of these thoughts ran through my head nightly as I attempted to sleep. Three months later and I am still in good health, my business has actually increased and for now the future seems somewhat less fearful. It’s been a lot of very long days for me, I don’t know what I would do without my amazing staff. I would like to say a very big thanks to all of the people of Wolfville and area who have embraced the idea of Shop Local. I have seen lots of new faces along with all my long time customers. Small businesses need support from the people around us especially during these trying times. The big corporate stores might have more selection and their prices might be a little less expensive but their profits are shipped off to corporate headquarters. The owners of small businesses quite often know your name, support your children’s favourite sporting activities, and truly appreciate your business. Please do all you can to stay safe and get out in the sun and enjoy our beautiful province. #supportlocal #weappreciateyouurbusiness See more
