Happy Friday, yogis! Here is me doing a drop back for the first time in 2years after negotiating with myself for the past few weeks. Here is what I learned so far. Too many power hungry, contradicting males that never inspired me to be better, to strive to be like them. What is this divine energy if so many of its representatives discriminate, hate, rape, judge, abuse and cause harm? What is this divine when wars, theft and destruction happen in its honour?... The very mention of the divine in a yoga environment would make me cringe, disconnect and shut down. I almost felt like it was polluting my experience. (Irony, hey?). Butthe more I practiced, the more I was aware. There is a part of me that watches. There is a part of me that propels me forward. There is a part of me that gives me incredible strength and resilience. There is a part of me that is always at peace. There is a part of me that loves me unconditionally. There is light within me even when I can’t see it. I want to know it. I want to align myself with it. I want to live, act and feel guided by this part of me. If you’re curious, get quiet, go inwards, listen to your breath. Feel the presence behind it. All the goodness that you offer to the world is within you. Now offer it to yourself. Love you. Beyond excited for this incredible offering! Restorative Yoga Teacher Training We live in an age of constant stimulation, endless to-do lists, and pressures to accomplish and produce. As a result, many of our nervous systems are in overdrive, exhausted and depleted. We all need deep, profound rest. Conscious relaxation is different than sleeping; it's different than watching TV or having a glass of wine. Conscious relaxation in the form of restorative yoga is an invitation... inwards. It's setting yourself up to be fully supported so you can do the deep work of letting go, trusting in the universe and allowing your nervous system to recover from a state of constant stress. This training is for those interested in incorporating more restorative yoga into their practice and/or teaching. You'll learn the mechanisms of short term, medium term and long term stress as well as how to work with them. This training will explore how restorative yoga works on the nervous system and how to use the breath to deepen our sense of relaxation and surrender. You'll learn how to set up restorative postures and use a variety of props to support the practice. You'll experience the postures for yourself as well as a full restorative class. This 20-hour training will cover the following topics What is the nervous system, and how does it function What is stress and how to work with it The control of breathing The mechanics of breathing Breathing and the nervous system Breathing techniques for managing the nervous system Foundations of Restorative Yoga, including General guidelines How to work with props and prop alternatives Inducing pratyahara (sense withdrawal) Timing of postures Setting up a variety of different postures Sequencing a restorative class Investment: $400+HST Dates and Times: February 5&6, 12&13 Saturdays from 12-2:30pm and 3-5:30pm Sundays from 2:30-5pm and 5:30-8pm

Looking back, 2020 was a year of turbulence, transformation, friction, growth and expansion. Enlivening the spine. One of the meanings of the word yogi is a person whose spine is filled with light. Learning about different directions in which the spine can move, articulation and variety of energy techniques that allow us the move, purify and place energy in different areas of the spine was a huge game changer for me. Not to mention that there are those sweet things called chakras there too.... Let’s be clear, you don’t ever need to back bend like this to experie...nce the light in the spine. But if you can, it might feel very yummy. I’m teaching today at 5:30pm level 2/3 Will you join me?
