MUMM Maritimers Unite for Medical Marijuana 24.11.2020

Good morning and we wish you all a great week. Today started off sketchy; as we loaded the van in the pouring rain; and drove into town totally expecting to ge...t soaked. Well...we didn’t. Like it was meant to be; the rain stopped before we got to the school. We were blessed enough to stay dry the whole morning. Art even got to put the 6 foot chalk lines down for us; so we can all stay socially distant. The lineup of about 70 people waiting patiently for us (6 feet apart) to set up were grateful for the stop in the rain too. Today we had a mix of kits and products. There were chocolates with skor bits and there were truffles. We still had some tincture (we got lots of positive feedback) and a donation of gummies; there were some 40mg chocolate chip cookies that were donated last week, and the joint kits had papers supplied to us from Canadian Lumber (thanks guys, you rock). We had capsules, peanut butter cookies and our peanut butter oat bar squares. Instead of a sandwich, this week we made ham and cheese tea biscuits. They were awesome. Someone even got to win a small pipe and some hemp wick that were recently donated. There were a lot of smiles in the lineup today. With the left over kits from Thanksgiving Monday; we were able to put out 229 care packages of canna-goodness and love in 2 hours. Thanks to Susan and Marc for their help at today’s giveaway and in building these kits were share each week. Thanks to our dedicated bakers who choose to remain anonymous; you are the lifeblood of the program. Thank you to all who donate to, and support the East Coast CSP, we can’t do this without you. All the best this week to all of you, from the East Coast Cannabis Substitution Program....making Monday the best day of the week in Halifax. PLAHS #canadianlumber #naturalremedy

This morning Chris Enns walked through the doors of Halifax Regional Police Dept. to turn himself in due to charges as a result of the last round of raids at bo...th Farm Assists locations. No doubt he was full of uncertainty as to when he may be released on bail as he will not succumb to what he feels are onerous terms of release. Critically and chronically ill Canadians have had a medical program in place for nearly twenty years, that was proven to be unconstitutional shortly after its inception, and then again time and again through the courts over the years. Chris was only offering what the feds failed to provide, affordable constitutional access to life saving cannabis in all its forms! It's time to apply pressure folks!! Let's start a phone jam and let the powers to be know how this will effect patients who require cannabis for therapeutic purposes!! Call as many of the following individuals/departments as possible to POLITELY lodge your concerns. Let them know how medical cannabis helps you and that dispensaries ARE indispensable. Mention the cancer care program that Farm Assists initiated. Then, wait until tomorrow and repeat the process! There are email addresses provided for the provincial politicians who need to hear from you in case phoning them may be problematic for you. 1) Minister of Justice; Mark Furey Phone: (902) [email protected] 2) Minister of Health; Randy Delorey Phone: (902) 424-5818; [email protected] 3) Mayor Mark Savage; 902-490-4010 4) Halifax Regional Police Dept.; 902-490-5016 5) Premier Steven MacNeil; 902-Phone: (902) 424-6600; [email protected]

MUMM Maritimers Unite for Medical Marijuana 01.10.2020

November 22, 2019 For Immediate Release- Maritimers Unite for Medical Marijuana Society (MUMM) is concerned by the actions of the RCMP in Moncton, New Brunswick..., when they simultaneously served a cease and desist order to Green Cross Medical, and a letter to their landlord under the Civil Forfeiture Act this week. The Civil Forfeiture Act, created in 2010, allows police, if they suspect a property is being used for illegal purposes, to approach the provincial Attorney General to obtain permission to seize that property and ultimately sell it. The onus is born by the property owner to validate that no illegal activity was occurring on their property, or that they were oblivious to it. Cannabis NB informed a legislative committee earlier this month that black market cannabis products were the primary cause of the Crown corporation losing millions in year one of operation. Michael Armstrong, associate professor at Goodman School of Business, Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, also mused that consumers will go to Cannabis NB outlets when illegal storefronts are eliminated. The handwriting was definitely on the wall for some form of recourse from the powers that be, said Debbie Stultz-Giffin, MUMM chair. These mean-spirited threats to dispensaries and landlords alike are politically and financially motivated. Dispensaries fill a void left by Health Canada’s unconstitutional medical cannabis program. Thousands of vulnerable citizens who rely on cannabis for therapeutic purposes without safe, affordable access to cannabis in all of its forms will suffer," she concluded. Dispensaries provide education to the novice patient as to how to consume cannabis and prepare their medicine, they offer a sense of community and belonging that many critically and chronically ill citizens need to flourish, and they offer products that Cannabis NB is unable to supply. Please join Green Cross Medical’s staff, volunteers and patients tomorrow at noon, 45 Price St unit 3, Moncton, when Green Cross Medical host both a Customer Appreciation Rally and a protest of the looming threats from law enforcement. -30- For Comment: - Debbie Stultz-Giffin, MUMM Chair (902) xxx-xxxx; and Marty Robishow, Green Cross Medical (506) xxx-xxxx https://www.cbc.ca//cannabis-nb-profits-illegal-dispensari https://www.cbc.ca//cannabis-nb-change-structure-profit-1. https://www.cbc.ca//saint-john-police-cannabis-dispensarie
