Booker joined me for the Terry Fox Run this morning. He enthusiastically ran 6 km...and then ran the 7th because I asked him to (and because we had to get back to the car). This run means so much to me every year. There are so many people in my life affected by cancer and this is a small thing that I can do.... I have raised about $500 for cancer research each run for many years, and with everything going on this year, set my fundraising goal at $200. Hey, Calgary! (and dog lovers across Canada)! Your City By-laws are being re-considered and you are running out of time to have your say! Calgary’s Animal Control By-laws have been used as the gold-standard for effective and safe measures by municipalities around the world.... The City is currently looking at changing its by-laws, including the possibility of breed-specific legislation. This would be a shocking step backward for a leader in this domain. Re-enforcing the existing, effective by-laws is a far better use of resources. Please see the Justice for Bullies post below with the link to Calgary’s survey. It looks like you don’t have to live in Calgary to respond. The stronger the responsible dog owners’ voices, the better! Only 3 days left, so please take a moment and fill it out now.

2020 Events... Well, THAT didn’t go as planned! Events are the biggest part of my business. This is how Mungo’s Books works.... 2020 was going to be a busy year, with plenty of seminars, our big annual public shows and a couple of multi-event weekends (which was crazy, but exhilarating). May even had me in three (THREE!) places at once! REALLY crazy - but I had it all figured out. Those three little boys who used to hang out in my booth can now run it by themselves. I invested in more fixtures and had all of my displays reinforced, so that they are sturdy and easy-to-move. (Set-up is a breeze now!) Between new & improved displays and my handy trailer, Mungo’s Books was ready for a year on the go...and now, here we sit! No events on the horizon! So...while I am still focused on getting the website finished, I can’t help thinking about my mobile store - all ready to go at a moment’s notice.
