#NorthBayOPP has received numerous traffic complaints about speeding vehicles and other highway traffic act violations in the Township of East Ferris and the Mu...nicipality of Powassan. Although officers often conduct patrol and enforcement in these areas, during the month of November 2020, they will be specifically focusing on patrolling in those areas looking for traffic violations. The goal of the focused patrol is to increase awareness and ensure highway safety for everyone using area roads. Staff Sergeant Bill McMullen, Detachment Commander of the North Bay OPP advises "The North Bay OPP in collaboration with local Police Services Boards are continually assessing and identifying relevant crime and traffic trends with the common goal of implementing proactive measures to minimize further victimization within our communities. North Bay OPP remains committed to traffic safety by incorporating high police visibility, measurable outcomes, professional traffic stops and public education into their efforts to save lives on local roads, trails and waterways. Aggressive driving, including speeding, impaired driving, inattentive driving and lack of seat belt use, are 'Big 4' offences that are significant factors in fatalities on Ontario roads."
