On behalf of the OSC community, we want to thank Dr. Garth Fletcher for his many years of leadership and dedication. Dr. Garth Fletcher received his PhD from the University of California in 1967. He worked as a scientist at the Halifax Lab of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada from 1967-'70 and as a research scientist at the Marine Ecology Laboratory of the Bedford Institute of Oceanography from 1970-'71 before joining Memorial University (MUN) as a research scientist at... the Marine Sciences Research Laboratory (MSRL) or as we know it today, the Ocean Sciences Centre (OSC). In 1987, Dr. Fletcher was appointed Professor (Research) and has conducted basic and applied research on fish antifreeze proteins and transgenic or genetically modified, fish for nearly 40 years. In 2005, Dr. Fletcher received the title of Professor Emeritus and in 2009, Dr. Fletcher was appointed Director and helped lead the transition of the OSC into an academic unit, the Department of Ocean Sciences (DOS), in 2012. SubC Imaging cameras were used by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI) to film and study corals to determine if some of them are more resistant to ocea...n acidification than others. Their incredible footage was used in Acid Horizon, an award-winning documentary. As leaders in our field, our goal is to provide complete imaging solutions to the Ocean Science Community. Our first step is always a simple conversation about the nature of your project and how our solutions can help you achieve success. How can we help? www.subcimaging.com
