A girl’s weight can naturally fluctuate significantly with her menstrual cycle. Uncertainty about meeting weight division requirements because of these natural ...weight changes could undermine her confidence. And, if weight management behaviours are not properly managed, it could become a safety issue. By acknowledging and addressing this challenge, coaches and organizers can help keep girls in the sport they love. Let’s change the game at https://yourrole.womenandsport.ca Canadian Women & Sport Sport Canada Karate New / Nouveau Brunswick Karate Nova Scotia Karate NL Karate BC Karate Alberta Ontario Karate Federation

Hello and Happy New Year! I am please to say that there will be karate for the Winter 2021 session. The Canada Games Centre has delayed the start time of the session to January 26th with all classes running for 10 sessions. All class information can be seen in the Winter Program guide: https://canadagamescentre.ca//CGC-2021-Winter-Program-Guid... Due to the delay in classes starting, I will be offering online classes from January 11th to January 24th. The cost of these classes will be $10 per household, and I will be following the new Winter schedule, which I have previously communicated. If you are interested in these classes, payments can be made via etransfer. You can also pay me in person when classes resume via cash or cheque. If you have any questions, please let me know. Look forward to seeing everyone back in 2021!

Andrew Dykens is a fellow karate practitioner with a club in Kentville, NS. His girlfriend's 7 year daughter just found she needs a new heart. If anyone is able to help them during this difficult time, it would be greatly appreciated.

Good Morning all, Last month’s sport split total was $20,445, with the winning ticket being $10,222.50! I am still waiting to see what the total amount we will be getting from this amount, but thank you to everyone who participated. The Sport Split draw will take place monthly, and you can buy tickets for this month’s draw using the same link, https://sportsplit.5050central.com/?olc=MurphysKarateAcademy. It is expected the total will be larger in December, as more sport teams... have registered for Sport Split. Remember that we get 70% of the proceeds we raise, which will go toward club members attending future Karate Canada National events. I hope that everyone is continuing to train at home. The founder of our style of karate said that, Karate is like boiling water; without heat, it returns to its tepid state. Continuing your training at home will help you when we are able to return to the dojo, hopefully in January 2021. I would suggest at a minimum that everyone try to train on the days they would have had a regularly scheduled karate class. I am filming new classes each day for the classes that we are missing due to the shutdown. I currently have 20 classes filmed and will continue to film new classes until December 20th. The fee for all these classes is $25. You can send an etransfer to me, or pay me in January when you see me. Alternatively, there are videos on my website of katas and Kihons we practice in class, plus a grading requirement book that shows what is expected for each belt rank. If you have any questions on the above, please let me know.
