On Monday, May 17th we lost a valuable member of the Murillo Mutts family. Anne was an amazing lady who supported our rescue. She loved that her daughter Jacqui Wolniarski had found an extended family to be part of. Anne was no ordinary member. She was the co pilot on many adventures with Jacqui. They picked up donations and dropped off supplies and enjoyed driving around together. Anne, not one for sitting back also became active in the rescue. She spent hours writing... our thank you, birthday and sympathy cards on behalf of this rescue. We are honoured that the family has chosen our rescue to support. Donations on behalf of Anne or any of the family can be sent to [email protected]. All donations are greatly appreciated and go directly to the care of the animals. Please provide a name when making a donation so we can forward a card to the family. See more

Please help even if only to share post Chloe is a 12 year old girl who came into our care in February. You might remember her as she had to have surgery and we asked for financial assistance. Unfortunately, Chloe has developed a significant mammary tumor. Meadows Animal Clinic will be removing the tumor on Wednesday May 5th. The estimated cost of the surgery is $932. Chloe will be available for adoption as soon as she recovers from her surgery. ... Yes, we know she is a senior dog. She has so much life and energy left in her. We believe she deserves whatever it takes to make her healthy. If you would like to donate e-transfers can be made to [email protected] Thank you

Some of our very favourite friends (and best customers!) were rescued. In honour of them, and the tireless folks behind the scenes that make these amazing orga...nizations run, we have teamed up with local, lady run, legendary, Lappe based, The Pet Food Waggin', to give something back. For every bag of dog treats from Pet Food Waggin sold, we will donate $1 of the purchase price, to Murillo Mutts Respite Refuge. Ask us to show you which ones the next time you’re in the store! Five Star Bakery has fresh bread, biscuits, and goodies in the store today, and these pillowy apple fritters are always a crowd favourite! We’ve got amazing pizza pies coming out for lunch right now, and a very exciting evening of chicken and waffles ahead of us! Gas and diesel are sitting at the comfortable price of 139.9. Happy Wednesday!!

Way to go fire crew We are waiting to hear if we are going to be evacuated from the fire. Special thanks to Northern Reach Rescue Network. As soon as they heard about the fire they reached out to us. We now have their cube van and can safely move all the animals that are here. Thanks Ashley and Kristen

RESCUE IS HARD...but sometimes it is REALLY hard. On Saturday, a cat was surrendered to our rescue. This cat was severely injured (pictures are too graphic to post. We rushed it to Dr. Sanzo at the Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital where he was euthanized immediately. RIP Fred. Thank you Dr. Sanzo and team On Sunday is appeared as more bad news was coming our way. Luna, our sweet pig we have had since February too extremely ill and we had to call out Dr. Dan at Slate River... Veterinary Services. Dr. Dan euthanized Luna. As we all wondered what went wrong a post mortem was done. Luna had a blockage. Thank you Dr. Dan On Monday, I received a call from a member of our board. Their mother had passed away. Our condolences to the whole family. In her memory we will be keeping the candle burning for the rest of this week. We also had to make an emergency call to Dr. Stuart at Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital as a dog in our care took very ill rather suddenly and required medication. We would also like to thank our neighbours Karen and Justin for coming to our rescue. Justin brought his big machine over and dug the hole for Luna. Between 3 emergency vet appointment we have a bill of over $1,000. Any help will be appreciated. If you want to send money to help with Luna's bill or in her memory please send an etransfer to [email protected] and put Luna in the message. If you want to help with the cat that had to be euthanized and our dog bill you can call directly to Thunder Bay Veterinary Hospital at 623-3531 and place money on our account or send an etransfer to [email protected]
