BULLETIN: Thirteen New Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 and Outbreak Declared In the Porcupine Health Unit Area Cases The Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) is reporting th...irteen new COVID-19 cases among residents in the health unit area. Eleven cases are in Timmins and two are in the James and Hudson Bay region. Three cases are contacts of a case and ten are under investigation. Outbreak The Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) is declaring an COVID-19 oubreak at Tim Hortons 110 Algonquin Blvd West in Timmins. To date, two individuals are confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the investigation has determined that the cases are related to the workplace. Stay home and self-isolate if: - You are confirmed case - You think or you are a contact of a confirmed case - You have symptoms get tested - You are waiting for your test results - Someone in your household has symptoms If you think you may have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has it, first self-isolate and complete the on-line COVID-19 Self-Assessment (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/) to determine your next steps. If testing is required, seek testing through one of the assessment centres across Ontario (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/assessment-centre-locations/). To our community members: We can confirm that there are fourteen new COVID-19 cases in our region. WAHA has received authorization from the leadership of Attawa...piskat First Nation and the Municipality of Moosonee to state that these new cases are in their respective communities. WAHA is working with Porcupine Health Unit and the local health services to ensure that the individuals are isolated, and that the contact tracing investigation is ongoing. The new regional case count is ninety-eight, sixteen in Attawapiskat, forty-one in Moosonee, twenty-seven in Fort Albany, thirteen in Moose Factory, and one in Kashechewan. Together, let's look after our loved ones by washing your hands, wearing a mask, and practicing physical distancing. If you are not well, stay home to protect others. Eighteen cases are in Timmins, fourteen are in the James and Hudson Bay region, seven are in area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, Smooth Rock Falls, and one in the area of Kapuskasing, Opasatika, Val Rita-Harty, Moonbeam, Fauquier-Strickland. Six cases are contacts of a case, three are related to an outbreak and thirty-one are under investigation. BULLETIN: Potential Public Exposure to COVID-19 Related to Train Travel The Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) is releasing information related to a positive case of C...OVID-19. Through the investigation, they have learned that there may have been a potential risk exposure to the public related to the following travel: Thursday, May 27, 2021 Ontario Northland train, scheduled departure time 5:00 p.m., from Moosonee to Cochrane, especially those seated in coach #2, rows 10 to 14. These passengers are advised to self-isolate at home immediately and call the PHU or your local health unit. Other travellers are directed to self-monitor. If you are experiencing symptoms, self-isolate at home and call the Porcupine Health Unit COVID-19 Information Line at 705-267-1181 or 1-800-461-1818 or your local public health unit. An infected person can spread COVID-19 starting 48 hours (or 2 days) before the person had any symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19. To reduce the risk of exposure, we ask that you continue to follow public health measures: - stay home and isolate if you have any symptoms - practice 2 metres physical distancing - wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer - sneeze and cough into your sleeve - avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth - wear a mask in indoor public spaces - wear a mask indoors and outdoors when physical distancing of 2 metres/6 feet cannot be maintained.

Twenty-seven cases are in Timmins, eight cases are in the area of Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls, Smooth Rock Falls, five cases are in the James and Hudson Bay region and one case is in the area of Hearst, Hornepayne. Six cases are related to an outbreak, two are contacts of a case and the investigation is ongoing for thirty-three cases. This is an illness it’s not a source of stigma or shame. The COVID-19 virus is to blame, not people. By-Law 1609 update. Changes to Emergency Preventative Measures are: 1. A mandatory 11:00 pm to 6:00 am curfew for all residents of Moose Factory Island will rem...ain in effect as of October 7, 2020. Exemptions will be made only for those attending work, in need of medical care and for those participating in traditional harvesting. 4. Exemptions to #3 include family medical emergencies, when in contact with family members from another household ensure masks or face coverings and physical distancing is practiced. 5. Exemptions to #3 also include funerals, which are limited to members of the immediate family. Masks or face coverings and physical distancing is required at funerals. 6. All funerals in Moose Factory Island must be held at either the Cree Cultural Interpretive Centre or adjacent to the graveyard at St. Thomas Anglican Church. 14. All schools in Moose Factory Island are exempted from this By-law, as long as safety measures approved by the PEOT are implemented. As per Council Motion #2020-07-228 passed on October 7, 2020, this bylaw will remain in force for an additional twenty days to October 27, 2020, unless that time period is extended or abridged by resolution of Council.
