2021 Feb 12 Ripley, Ontario Canada: Birds flock around open patches from snow covered grounds to pickup small pebbles to aid digestion. They know where to look, remember the patches, or identify mounds, that they dig-in to have access to pebbles and soil. At this bird feeding station in Ripley, Ontario, the birds dug-up to underneath the snow to have access to a gravel mound. The left over gravel mound was used earlier in the fall to cover puddles on the driveway. Wildlife knows, wild life is truly amazing. They link us up "back" towards understanding our environment and knowledge of the natural process that rule all biological life on the planet. Wishing everyone a most wonder-filled weekend coming!
