Hi Music in the Landing fans! I would love to hear your thoughts on last year's streaming shows and, in general, how you feel the Town of Gibsons should be supporting the arts and artists of the Sunshine Coast. My thought for this year, as it looks like live music may be a ways off yet, is we should film some music outdoors to showcase some of the beautiful scenery of Gibsons--which could be a lovely lasting legacy for the town, the musicians, and could be enjoyed by people anywhere in the world? Ideas? Thoughts?

Verna began her music career singing pop, rock & r&b in clubs and pubs throughout BC before moving onto jazz, singing with a big band for many years at clubs like Vancouver's Hot Jazz Club and events such as Vancouver's First Night, she also appeared with many Vancouver musicians at restaurants and clubs in Vancouver. With a background in writing and production, Verna has also written, produced and appeared in musical productions for multiple Vancouver Fringe Festivals, as we...ll as Vancouver's Women in View Festival. She also produced many shows at Vancouver's Hogan's Alley and other venues. Since moving to the Sunshine Coast, some years ago, Verna has performed at the Gibsons Jazz Festival, made appearances at local venues, produced Music in the Landing, acted as musical director for the Funtastics and produced the first Gibsons Lantern Festival. For this live-streamed event, Verna takes the stage with accomplished guitarist Paul Steenhuis, Boyd Norman on bass and John Rule on drums. Live-streamed and simulcast on Eastlink Community TV. We have now done 6 consecutive Saturday night shows live-streamed from the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons and simulcast on Eastlink Community TV. The first 4 shows were sponsored by the Town of Gibsons (yay Town of Gibsons!) but now we are relying on your donations to continue to be able to bring you live entertainment each Saturday night--we'd love to keep it up for at least a couple of more weeks. MIL - Double Treble Live Stream from the Heritage Playhouse STARTS AT 7:15PM Heidi and Bud Kurz met at Capilano College when they were students in the Music programme, and were 2/3rds of the grad class of '83! They also attended UBC and graduated with BMus in 1986. They both play flute, guitar and harp. They enjoy playing Baroque, Classical, folk, jazz and Celtic music and have played at Slow Sundays, the Little Legion, Persephone, Music in the Landing, the Sechelt Summer Music Series, and are regulars at North Van Community Arts Council events like Art in the Garden. Accomplished and engaging performers, their music is like a relaxing walk on the beach for the soul.
