Today should have been the first day of Showcase PEI. It started in 2008 and after 12 consecutive years, this will be the first pause. I have come to enjoy this... event so much. The combination of presenting some of our amazing artists, meeting some really incredible people in the music biz from around the globe, introducing them to the beauty, the people and food of PEI and creating some lifelong friendships, it has really taught me so much. I will be sad but also hope that next year we are back with all the excitement, passion and fun of previous years. DEADLINE TOMORROW! Music PEI is very proud to announce the new Music Supervision Mentorship Program (MSMP), a deep dive into learning how to become a music supervisor. Music Supervision is an exciting job within the music industry. Music Supervisors are responsible for placing music in film, TV, commercials, video games and other special projects. It is a creative job with a strong administrative component.... The MSMP will cover all facets of the music supervision job, running the gamut from creative to the business side and everything in between. Music PEI has partnered with instinct entertainment, a leading Canadian music supervision company, to deliver the program. One-to-one mentorship with instinct owner Michael Perlmutter and staff will include exercises and take away work to help fine-tune your new-found skills. Each week, real-world examples are discussed, detailing intricacies and requirements involved in the music supervision process. This 8-week comprehensive class will leave you with the foundation and skills needed to move into the music supervision world. The program is set to begin in September 21st. Applicants can find submission details on the Music PEI website. Submission deadline is September 11th. You must be a full-time resident of PEI to be eligible. The program is designed to serve emerging artists in the BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ2s+ and youth communities of music artists and filmmakers with the goal of creating 3 new music videos. The program will provide a prize valued at $2500 per song which includes the musical artist recording a new song in a professional studio and the filmmaker producing a... video to accompany the song. Start date is tentatively August 31st and completion date February 19th. Eligibility for this position includes: Currently unemployed... Currently - on EI - or EI eligible - or had an EI claim in the previous 3 years Preferred candidates will have some experience in the music industry and/or some event management experience.
