The amazing (and legendary!) non-profit group Music For People is offering an online creative and educational lab running 4 Wednesday evenings starting March 24th! Collab Lab is a connective musical experience where you will learn how to do remote musical collaborations and remote recording! Musicians wanting to collaborate remotely while learning the ropes of online audio recording are invited to register for MfP's Spring Forward Collaboration Lab. Co-led by Alina Plourde... and Todd Rogers, the four-session webinar will focus on small-group, multi-track recording (i.e., layering different sounds to create a full group mix). "Collab Lab is a connective musical experience! Participants work in deep collaboration with others, providing the necessary support and inspiration to bring original music to life," Rogers says. "It's one of our most popular offerings." Attendees will learn how to: -Operate Soundtrap, an online cross-platform music studio; -Utilize different recording techniques; -Explore writing for songs and for spoken word -Create with intention and purpose. The Collab Lab will meet Wednesdays, March 24 and 31 and April 7 and 14, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. (ET), with optional collaboration time until 9 p.m. No experience is needed. This is a great Youtube channel for practicing with! Gutsy drum set rhythms can be a lot more fun and give a lot more context than playing with a just a click or metronome. Not knocking metronomes! They are essential but some good emotive tracks can really it make it a lot more fun to nail down your bass lines, strum patterns, keyboard accompaniments and more! Of course drum only tracks are never in the wrong key!! In fact just finding the right rhythm can be a bit of an education as you compare 6/8, 12/8, shuffles , funk and rock...
