Congratulations Lido Pimienta for making the Short List of the 2020 Polaris Music Prize for your album Miss Colombia. Lido won the Polaris Prize in 2017 for her album La Papessa, and in 2014 when she was working on the music she talked to Musicworks writer Mary Dickie about her visual art practice, her evolution as a songwriter, and why its important to connect with audiences in fun, meaningful ways. "Its important to go out into the world, because the songs are about what happens in the world, not just my own experience. Congrats to all the 2020 Polaris Short List artists!

From Lloydminster, Alberta, to the Big Apple, saxophonist / composer Erin Rogers has moved warp speed through a collaborative music career that is just warming up. POSTED: Great interview with musician-organizer Curtis Lefthand by first-time MW contributor Kyra Kordoski, from the Spring 2020 issue. Curtis is one of the people on the collective council that guides Indigenous Resilience in Music, an innovative organization "shaking things up," Curtis says, with creative programming like artist residencies and the Rhythm of the People Festival. Although some 2020 events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IRIM is actively expanding into digital spaces and collaborations and planning for 2021! Curtis is also a talented musician; the interview happened after his performance at Victorias Open Space during the When Raven Became Spider exhibition.

Happy 75th Birthday, Anthony Braxton. Anthony Braxtons ideas, music, collaborative leadership and energy have inspired many artists and contributors who have graced our pages. Stuart Broomer has often written on Braxtons music. For Musicworks, he wrote the Winter 2007 cover story (Musicworks 99) and numerous reviews.
