Dear patrons, performers, and supporters of PRISM Theatre in the Park, We have been monitoring the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic since the beginning of the year, and had been working on safety precautions for this season's show, such as online rehearsals, smaller cast sizes, and many other options. Even a couple weeks ago, we felt it was possible to run this season's performance in August safely. But each day has been bringing more developments. We've been looking not... only at municipal, provincial, and federal government regulations, but also at other theatre companies across Canada. Over the past two weeks, Mirvish and Stratford have both fully cancelled their 2020 seasons. PRISM's view is that if such cornerstone theatre groups have decided to close for this year of shows, it would be irresponsible and imperious of a small company like us to think we know better. Even if we implemented every planned safety precaution, we still wouldn't feel confident in the wellbeing of our cast, crew, and audience. With the developments of the past couple weeks, it's with a heavy heart that we tell you that this season's show is cancelled. With many performers holding jobs of their own, and our well-attended shows, we don't feel we would be able to 100% guarantee safety of those involved and attending, which is our primary concern. Community theatre isn't worth risking lives. In these uncertain and demanding times, we need to find every chance we can to bring light and joy into the lives of ourselves and others, and theatre is a marvelous opportunity for us to leave the worries of the world behind for even a couple hours. As such, we are hard at work looking for opportunities to help share joy and the arts when this is over, but until then, for everyone's safety, we've decided to postpone our summer show until the 2021 season. Thank you for all of your support, and we hope to see you next season. David Wray -- Director, PRISM Theatre in the Park

Hi everyone! As you've likely heard by now, PRISM's 2020 season show will be the Shakespeare classic Much Ado About Nothing. As you also know, the world is in an interesting place right now. We at PRISM have been keeping up-to-date with information as it comes out, and have been looking at other theatre groups, the script we're undertaking, and feel that with the talented performers we tend to get, we could manage to get this show to a level we'd be comfortable with even if w...e started rehearsals a few weeks later than usual. Obviously, with public spaces closed at least for a few more weeks, this throws a spanner in our usual audition process. We have a few ideas on how to move forward with that, but right now, we just want to know if there's enough interest. If you are interested in being a part of the show this year, could you please send an email to that effect to us at [email protected]? If we have enough interest to mount the show, we will reach back out to you with permission forms, audition/show information, and any other relevant details. Of course, even if you're not available for this summer's show, but you know someone who is, please, by all means, let them know! Spread the news! Call your friends! Send a handwritten letter! We love to welcome fresh faces to PRISM! With every day taking us closer to the summer, we'd like to get some sense of this sooner rather than later, so we'd like to hear back from you NO LATER THAN SATURDAY, MAY 2ND if you're interested in joining us again this season. Thank you all so much, and keep safe, David Wray
