Muslim Studies at Emmanuel College 07.07.2021

Emmanuel College is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Dr. Glenn J. McCullough as assistant professor of practical theology and spiritual care, effective July 1, 2021. The search committee was impressed by Dr. McCullough’s background and preparation, which combines theology, psychotherapy, and knowledge of the spiritual care professions, says Principal Michelle Voss Roberts. This total package is rare, indeed, hitting all of the marks we would desire in a professor for our unique Master of Pastoral Studies program. Please join us in welcoming the Rev. Dr. Glenn McCullough to the Emmanuel College faculty! Read the full news release by clicking on the image below.

The Emmanuel College community eagerly awaits our post-pandemic return to campus. With the Toronto School of Theology (TST), our primary organizing principle is to provide access to classes and extra-curricular opportunities that allow students to make progress with their degrees, and to engage with their fellow students and college communities. While we expect improved public health conditions in 2021-2022 due to vaccine rollout in the coming months, we anticipate a continued need for some level of remote delivery in response to public health constraints. Hip Hop and Basketball share an undeniable common culture. There's connective tissue between the social roots, style, and worldviews from which a majority of Black athletes and artists see their sport and their craft entwined. Now, more than ever, Hip Hop and basketball are expressing a new, even stronger commonality; the need to get loud and speak truth to power regarding the systemic racism and social injustices Black individuals and communities face on a daily basis. Join Hart House as they engage members of the sports media community (Kayla Grey of TSN and Donnovan Bennett of Sportsnet) and online audience.

"Out of love, my mom always told me, Kayla, you’re a Black woman you always have to work twice as hard. But now when I look at my son, I want to tell him, Levi, you’re a Black man, and you’re just enough. I want to tell my son that he his hair, his skin, the way he talks, the way he presents, what he likes, what he doesn’t like is enough."
