Mutt Mansion Sanctuary and Boarding Kennel

It takes a village of caring people to help transport a dog across the Western Provinces and finally be able to fly back home to the Sanctuary by next Wednesday. Huge Thank You to Furry Hobos N Hiway Hero"s Dog Transport Margaret Foster-hyde ARTS Senior Animal Rescue Inge Nielsen Country Kennels Edmonton, Maggie and Jared Transport Truck Drivers, Scott form ARTS, Jan from Arts, Tara from Furry Hobos, (I hope I havent forgotten anyone if so I am very sorry)---- Little Miss is settling in at Country Kennels and will be arriving Wednesday night late. Thanks to Furlong Dog Grooming for fostering her in Whitehorse for one night till I can pick her up. What a team love it.

We need to stress the importance of proper grooming. This poor girl had Matt's to the skin and nails curly. Being in this state is very painful for the dog, allows for sores to start on the skin and become very infected. The dog was groomed today at minus 40 and now she has no coat to protect her from the weather. This is clearly neglect but at least she is done now. Please if u have dogs that need grrooming get it done do not allow your dog to go through what this girl did.

Adoption rules here at the sanctuary: Adult dogs will not be adopted until spayed or neutered. Puppies are normally sent south to ensure they are spayed or neutered prior to be adopted (on a rare occasion I will adopt puppy local) All dogs are vaccinated for parvo distemper and dewormed Full disclosure of each dog on their behaviours that are seen and passed on. Any behaviours exhibited after adoption that was not present at the sanctuary is not the liability of the sanctua...ry There is no shopping at the sanctuary anyone interested in adopting must message and outline what breed, experience u have, activity level, kids in the home etc. I normally pair you up with a dog that suits your lifestyle and experience. Must foster two weeks prior to adopting Lately I have seen places adopting out dogs that are not spayed or neutered prior. We ensure it is done first to assist with overpopulation of dogs in the Yukon and elsewhere. This also helps with prevention of certain behaviours in the future. There are a few easy dogs looking for a home feel free to send a message if interested.

I’ve been through this process a few times with my rescue dogs. They’re just like people Simons best day ever was the day I put that tag on him.

Awe poor Mr. man Brutus (not the Brutus who passed a few weeks ago another Brutus who is always in my vehicle)---- he came from NWTSPCA many years ago and has progressed wonderfully--- the poor boy had to have a couple teeth removed today so he isn't feeling so well. But he will be back to normal in no time.

TBone finally learning to let go of his insecurities and is becoming a very playful pup. Watch him go with Spark yellow lab X visiting and chickadee, Jax and Kia

Well it has been a crazy few days trapped in that huge dump of snow until today! Huge thank you to Michelle Parsons, Dan Cresswell and Kyle Cresswell for delivering meds for a dog before he became real sick, drinking water for me, Kyle Creswell and Jeff Gilbert for clearing the road to get out (working thru the night). A huge safety issue of not being able to get out or help in, if needed. As a result of the storm there has been damage to food storage tent roof, my big gene...rator broke down which I need to thaw water (can't get water from tank in those cold temperatures) and too much snow has broken some dog runs. It will be a long while before I will get things back in order. If anyone has a large generator they don't need please let us know or if you can lend a hand in any way, please let us know. Thanks for all your support, concern and kind words of encouragement while I shovelled out the pens. Stay safe Yukoners, winter’s here!

Despite not being able to get out TBone is progressing so fast. He is now in the big pen with lots of dogs and coming into the house. He is not housetrained at all so that is going to be a big part of his training. He is to thin to be outside and his double coat has not grown in. Huge thank you to the people coming by snowmobile tomorrow to bring meds for a dog. I so appreciate.
