Meals for Mutts 08.07.2021

Happy Mother's Day! Do you remember the story we told a few months back of a momma and her babies living in a box on the street? Well thanks to some kind community members, Caliope and her babies were rescued and have been living and receiving care Funkytown Puebla. The workers of the shelter have report that she is a very sweet and loving momma to her babies. Thanks to your donations we've been able to fill Caliope's bowl while she nursed her babies. Now her puppies- Manil...a, Sebas, Loma, Viola and Benny- are receiving puppy grade kibble as they prepare for their turn to come to Canada in search of a furever home. It is still our Give What You Can weekend! We need your donations to fill bowls just like Caliope and her pups so The Dog-Go Project can continue to do the tough work saving dogs from a harsh life on the streets. Just $5 feeds one dog two meals a day for a week and half. Donations can be made to [email protected] or via our website at www.mealsformutts.ca. Swipe to see more pictures of Caliope and Co! Puppies, puppies and more puppies! On average, there are 60 puppies at Funkytown Puebla, which accounts for almost a quarter of the shelters population. These puppies were found on the streets, dropped off outside the shelter or were born at the shelter. Some have mom's who can provide them the nutrients they need to grow, while others sadly do not. The cost of puppy food has a significant impact on the food budget. They require formula and specially formulated kibble which... costs around $30 more per day than the cost for an adult bag. On top of food, The Dog-Go Project pays for vaccines, medicines, as well as spays and neuters for each dog prior to coming to Canada. Your donations will help us provide the food these puppies need to grow up healthy while waiting for their turn to board a plane in search of their furever home. We still need your help to reach our goal to feed the dogs of Fubkytown. Please visit our website at www.mealsformutts.ca (link in bio) or an EMT to [email protected] to make your donation today. Remember no amount is too small. $5 makes a world of difference for these dogs. Let's #filltheirbowls!

GIVE WHAT YOU CAN WEEKEND IS HERE The goal: $1,500 CAD in the next three days to secure the next truck load of food. Can we do it? Yes! But not without your help. We purchase food by the truck load due to the cost savings. Money saved = more meals. It also helps that the cost to feed the dogs in Mexico is significantly lower than here in Canada so we mean it when we say every dollar helps!... Here is a look at how we put your donations to work: $3.50 feeds one dog for one week. $14 feeds one dog for one month. $180 feeds one dog for an entire year. This week we shared with you how you can help us make a difference in these dogs lives. Below is a recap of all the ways you can help us reach our goals: 1 Sponsor a Day of Food for $100 CAD-https://bit.ly/3vQ2Ue8 2 Sponsor a Long-Term Resident for $180- https://bit.ly/3tymuKs 3 Set up Automatic Monthly Donations https://bit.ly/3nU9EVm 4 Give What You Can- https://bit.ly/3nU9EVm 5 Like, Share, Comment and Save our posts! Your donation, of any amount, brings peace of mind to the volunteers on the ground helping and rescuing dogs off the streets every day. Your donation puts these pups one step closer to finding a forever home which in turns makes space for street dogs in need. You can make a donation through the links posted above, through our website at www.mealsformutts.ca/donate or by EMT to [email protected]. How will you help us #filltheirbowls this weekend? 3 Set up automatic monthly contributions via our donation form. Rescuing street dogs is a continuous cycle. It does not stop. Dogs in shelter care will eventually make their way to Canada, making space for a new street dog in need. The fees The Dog-Go Project receives from rescues in Canada goes right back into medical and sheltering costs until those dogs can make the trip. And then the cycle repeats. Street dogs fight everyday for food, for water and for shelter. If you... have adopted a dog from Mexico, it is likely your dog too once fought for their survival in a country that does not appreciate them. Their time at the shelter is the first stop in learning they no longer need to fight. Setting up a monthly contribution ensures bowls are filled and The Dog-Go Project can continue to focus their attention and available funds to street dogs in need. If you set up a monthly donation of $15 a month, you will have donated a total of $180! This fills one bowl twice a day for a full year! Link in bio to access the form! Be sure to select Monthly Donation at the top.

2 Sponsor a Long-Term Resident for the year- $180 CAD. There are currently 80 long term residents at Funkytown Shelter. These residents are either too ill, in their senior years and/or are extremely terrified of humans and are too big a risk to send to Canada. These deserving dogs will either live at Funkytown Shelter forever or will live there for more than one year while they undergo treatments and heal. Alongside Funkytown, The Dog-Go Project assumes all costs to keep t...hese dogs happy and healthy as they live out their days with love and kindness. It costs Meals for Mutts approximately $180 to feed one of these residents two meals a day for a whole year. This cost alone varies between $15,000 to $18,000 in yearly expenses for Funkytown and is over a third of Meals' fundraising goal. We know $180 is a lot of money to donate during these uncertain times. However, if just 18 people donated $10 each, that would cover all the food needed for one permanent resident at Funkytown. Can you find 17 of your friends and family (plus you!) to help sponsor the yearly food for one of these permanent residents? Teamwork makes the dreamwork after all!

1 Sponsor a Day of Food for $100 CAD. Food may seem like an unpopular way to support our rescue partners @thedoggoprojectmexico in Mexico but the truth is it represents approximately a quarter to a third of the monthly operating expenses @funkytownpuebla. Our efforts mean these saved funds can quickly be reallocated and used towards life saving surgeries and medicines for dogs in urgent need. Food is an everyday and important aspect of rescue life. Food transcends ju...st filling the void in their bellies. It has the power to comfort, heal and ease anxieties for the dogs in care. Your donation goes directly towards providing the number one comfort to these dogs while they wait for their chance to come to Canada For $100, you can sponsor a whole day’s worth of food to commemorate a special day of your choosing or simply just because. This sponsorship feeds breakfast and dinner to all 200+ dogs at Funkytown. Certificates are available to commemorate your special day. This here is Caballito. When he was rescued The Dog-Go Project thought he had a broken front leg. To their surprise, Caballito’s assessment at the vet revealed he had already had surgery on his leg. Sadly, this surgery appeared to be botched and he had to have his leg amputated. When did Caballito have surgery? Did he come from a home where he was loved and cared for? Why did they let him go? Did a kind soul find an injured Caballito, help him get back on his feet and release... him back onto the streets because they could no longer care for him? Could he have more than one story? We may never know Cabalitto’s complete story, but parts of his story indicate he encountered the helping hands of some kind humans. Caballito needs the help of the kind souls that form this community to raise the fund to feed him and his friends for the next several months at Funkytown Shelter. Next weekend we are hosting our first Give What You Can event of 2021 (previously known as Pay What You Can)! Between Friday and Sunday we have an ambitious goal to fundraise $1,500 to secure the next truckload of food in support of the efforts of The Dog-Go Project and Funkytown Shelter Did you find $2 in between the couch cushions? Are you able to skip that fancy $5 beverage at Starbucks for just one day and pay it forward to dogs in need? No amount is too small in the efforts to #filltheirbowls. Link in bio to donate!

Happy Monday pals! If only we tackled each day with as much grace and gratitude as Ida does. Ida was found tied up and abandoned outside of the shelter after the workers heard some crying and barking. Despite her past, Ida holds no grudges! All of her photos show a happy, smiling girl and a blurred out tail because it is always wagging!... Ida is in Mexico until flights resume to Canada. How long will that be? Who knows. In the mean time we need your help to secure the next truck of food that will feed Ida and her friends Funkytown throughout the summer. For only $15 you can feed one dog two meals a day for an entire month. Head to www.mealsformutts.ca to donate!

Friday feels! Who's with us?

Meals for Mutts 17.02.2021

Hey everyone! Loren here :) It's National Volunteer Week and I wanted to take a moment to honour the tremendous and dedicated volunteers who make Meals all it can be. I started Meals as this teenie tiny idea to help my friends The Dog-Go Project and Funkytown Puebla who were drowning in bills and an uncertain future at the hands of the Mexican economy. Over the last year and a half the team has grown, new friendships have formed, ideas are sprouting every single day, all wi...th one goal in mind: #filltheirbowls. Never did I imagine that Meals would become such an integral part of the success story that is TDGP and Funkytown. There is no way I could have leveraged this on my own. The success of Meals rests on the shoulders of the Meals Team whom everyday I am thankful to have the energy and support of. Thank you my Meals family! The dream is so easily a reality thanks to your passion. Interested in getting involved? We are looking for volunteers to help us with website building, marketing and social media, running fundraising campaigns and building partnerships in the community. Drop us a DM or send an email to [email protected].
