My Audi Q5 07.07.2021

Roger’s Pass, BC. Averaging 9.5L/100km on the 3.2L gas engine. I had hoped for a number in 8’s after changing the air filter, coils, and plugs.

TRANSMISSION MOUNT BUSHING INSTALLATION Time Required: 10-15 minutes Installation Steps: Use an M10 socket to remove two bolts in the transmission mount, clean around the mount with compressed air, lubricate the ECS red transmission mount with the included polyurethane bushing grease and insert it into the space around the stock transmission mount. Finally insert the two new bolts and tighten them to 15 ft-lbs using an H6 socket. Easy peasy.... Why do we want to do this? To decrease transmission mount slop and get better drivetrain response. THROTTLE BODY CLEANING 101 Suggested Interval: every 10,000km (basically every oil change) DIY time: 30 min including the drive Things needed: CRC Throttle Body spray, a toothbrush, a flat head screwdriver, a rag, and a code scanner to clear any error codes you may get when you re-start the Q5. ... IMPORTANT! 1. The engine MUST be cold 2. DO NOT OPEN THE THROTTLE PLATE MANUALLY. To open the throttle plate electronically, turn the ignition to ON, but do not start the engine. Now have someone else help you or use a brace to press the gas pedal all the way to the floor. This action opens up the throttle plate fully allowing you to clean the throttle body and plate with the toothbrush soaked in the CRC spray. STEPS Step 1: Undo the screw on the clamp around the intake hose attached to the throttle body. Step 2: Slide the intake hose off the throttle body and rest it on top of it. NOTE: If you feel like it, you can remove the entire air intake hose for better access to the throttle body housing. Step 3: Place a rag under the throttle body opening to capture any excess CRC cleaner. Step 4: Spray a liberal amount of the cleaner inside the throttle body. Now spray the toothbrush with the CRC cleaner and then use it to clean the front and back of the plate and around the throttle body. NOTE: Yes, you could remove the throttle place housing and then clean it all while removed from the vehicle. The one thing that will create a whole bunch of work for you is disconnecting the fuel supply. I looked at several YouTube videos and everyone struggled with it, so I opted to leave it all attached. Step 5: Let it all soak for 1 minute. Step 6: Re-install the air intake hose onto the throttle body. Step 7: Start the Q5. Mine did not start on the 1st try, and on the 2nd try the EPC light came on. The Q5 ran like it had 3 cylinders for a minute and eventually stabilized. I restarted the engine but the EPC light stayed on. I then drove it for a few kilometers and all was fine. I had to use a code reader to clear the EPC light. I drove it for another 15 minutes and the engine was super responsive. I will definitely stick to the 10,000km interval from now on, knowing how easy this type of maintenance is and how beneficial to the engine performance it can be. COST: CRC Throttle Body Kleen is $15 CAD. I had only used about a third of the can in the whole process.
