If you are looking to improve your grazing paddocks by moving toward AMP grazing or even cross fencing into a few more paddocks, put your plan together this summer, send us an expression of interest form (http://myawwd.ca/programs/forms/) this summer/fall and we will review it over the winter and work with you to provide funding to get you started! https://understandingag.com/the-accrued-benefits-of-adapti/
Wondering how groundwater is responding to these dry conditions? Daily Groundwater Levels graphs are available from the province for shallow sand and gravel aquifers like the Oak Lake and Assiniboine Delta Aquifers. The solid black line indicates the current levels, while the rest of the data (colours and grey dotted line) indicate long term trends. Groundwater levels were normal or above normal coming into this dry spring. In the Oak Lake Aquifer water levels are currently... within normal range and trending along the median water level for this time of year. In the Assiniboine Delta Aquifer, groundwater levels are currently within the normal range and above median levels.

Prairie wetlands act like a filter in the ecosystem. From run-off, they receive chemicals and excess nutrients. These wetlands can breakdown compounds into less... toxic by-products and incorporate excess nutrients. They filter out these undesirable compounds and improve water quality downstream! #PGTGW #pcapprairie #nativeprairie #grasslands #AgMoreThanEver #KeepSaskWild #NatureSask #Nature4All #climatechange #egs #ecologicalgoodsandservices #carbontax #carbon #greenhousegas #saskbeef #saskag #CanadianAg #CanadianBeef #SaskLife #AlbertaLife #PrairieLife #farmlife #ranchlife #wildlife #GrasslandsNationalPark #SaskParks #exploresask #agriculture #environment Image: Flickr Creative Commons/ USFWS Mountain-Prairie

All producers are encouraged to help provide a better understanding of soil health initiatives by completing this 2020 Prairie Cover Crop survey from the University of Manitoba. If you are interested in implementing cover crops in 2021 contact our offices to discuss funding opportunities.
If you are looking to try some new practices to improve soil health we have funding available. Check out our 'Expression of Interest' form at http://myawwd.ca/forms/ or give us a call at one our of offices.
The AWWD is interested in conservation solutions that work for landowners. This program pays you to conserve your low spots that are wet some years and farmable in others (defined as Class I and II wetlands). Payments per acre in the AWWD range from $50-$70 for 10 years. Cancel anytime and no requirement to register to land titles. If you are interested in knowing what your annual payment might be send us an e-mail ([email protected]), message here, or call us at 204-567-3554 with your land descriptions.
AWWD is proud to be a partner in this AAFC Research initiative to bring producer-driven solutions and ideas to improve soil health in our local landscape. https://pembinavalleyonline.com//federal-government-announ
