ANNOUNCEMENT Introducing...My Body Kindness Classes in a whole NEW way If you’ve been member of our community for a while now you’ll know that before Covid we used to host regular ‘Kindness Classes’ which were a by donation class with 100% of the proceeds going to a local non-profit community organization and/or mutual aid organization. With the pandemic this is another thing that we’ve had to pivot with considering we can’t take our cash donations and host massive in per...son classes right now! Another thing you may know is that we recently also added in Sliding Scale options, which are lower cost options on our monthly memberships. Given on a need based honour system with priority given to Black, Indigenous, non-Black + non-Indigenous People of Colour, LGBTQIA+, Disabled and chronically ill friends. So how have we pivoted during the pandemic with these? Well I’m not gonna lie it’s been tough but our commitment to accessibility is tougher!Because we believe everyone deserves access to Joyful Accommodative Movement! Introducing the... 1. The Recurring Kindness Program Recurring Kindness is a new program we’ve introduced that works in conjunction with our Sliding Scale pricing options! At My Body we believe that all people, regardless of socio-economic status, deserve access to Joyful Movement. That is why we we added in Sliding Scale options this year so that no one will ever be turned away for lack of funds. Recurring Kindness memberships are the way you can help pay it forward! Whether your a current member of our community willing/able to help or just someone who believes in our mission...You can choose the monthly pricing level that works for you! More details in the slides above 2. Kindness Classes Reimagined These are another awesome way to give back to your community! Things have changed a little with the pandemic Stay tuned on Insta and our website for Kindness Class announcements! For now if you run or work at an organization and would like to be considered for a Kindness class, just get in touch! More info in the below slides! The words you speak become the house you live in -Hafiz I’ve always really loved this quote for a multitude of reasons, but mostly because of all the ways it can be applied How do we speak to those we love the most in the world? If someone you loved dearly started speaking poorly about themselves or their body, think about how swiftly you jump to their defense! How quick you are to correct them and shower them with affirmations?... How often do you do the same for yourself? Our bodies are our forever homes, how we speak to them matters. Our skin suits are the least interesting things about us, but it doesn’t mean that your good ol’ flesh bag doesn’t deserve to be showered with glowing affirmations And while you’re at it, the beautiful being that exists inside your bod deserves all the support you can give it On that note, just a simple reminder post for this Friday of a long week Don’t forget to speak kindly to yourself this weekend and every day after. Karina Walker - Creative Capture [image description: The whole My Body team sitting in the self love lounge wearing black and white athletic clothing and black face masks. In the top left hand corner outlined yellow text reads The words you speak become the house you live in -Hafiz ]

Exercise Hierarchy is made up trash garbage (this phrasing inspired by my online buddy and all around lovely human @positivelylime ) The idea that exercises should be presented in hierarchical order of hardest to easiest or vice versa, is a lie that the toxic fitness industry has been selling us for years. The concept that there is a perfect way to do an exercise and then if you can’t do that you have to either sit it out or do an easier version, also made up trash g...arbage AND it’s ableist It treats all bodies as a monolith and works off the white supremacist health/beauty standard that exists in the fitness industry where one body type is promoted as the ideal, and every single person should be working out to achieve this certain look, and those who can’t ever achieve this look are cast aside. The reality is, there is no one size fits all exercise/workout. You can’t present one version of each exercise in a workout and expect every single person to be able to do it exactly as shown, unless you are purposely catering to only one type of body.....which...I mean...check yourself please. There is no perfect or best way to do an exercise. Hear me out The best way to do an exercise is the way that avoids injury. This is why exercise hierarchy is harmful Because often if only given one option/version of an exercise the individual might try to do the exercise because they think it’s there fault for not being able to do it, and then may even injure themselves as a result of trying. Hear me when I say this: Your body is NOT the problem The problem is the lack of accessibility. There is no one size fits all exercise BUT there is adaptable accessible movement, where the workout and each exercise in it is adapted and modified to fit each individual’s accessibility needs. If you know us you that this is exactly what WE do at My Body But I think that it should be standard practice, because adapting exercises to fit individual people is literally the bare minimumIf we’re not adapting we’re continuing the oppression that’s so prevalent in the fitness industry It’s time to demand better Because you and your glorious bodies deserve better. When someone creates art out of a response I wrote to a question box in stories Thank you so much @cassydoodles I just had to repost because I was so honoured, but also because this message and response seemed to resonate with quite a few folx In a time such as this it’s very easy to forget our magic But always remember that... No one else can do what you do, exactly how you do it. That’s the magic, you are the magic! You may know me/us personally, and you may not...just know that we’re rooting for you Don’t give up. This is hard, but you can do hard things! [image descriptions: 1st slide= a digital collage art piece with a pink background. Two translucent hands are at the bottom Centre reaching up to cradle a line drawn solar system with drawn planets on orbital rings and a Centre plant that contains the words ‘you are the magic’ in rainbow and purple coloured 60s style lettering. On the other orbital rings in different diagonally stacked placement read the words. ‘No one else can do’ ‘what you do’ ‘exactly how you do it’. Above the Centre planet in pink 60s style lettering reads ‘that’s the magic’. 2nd slide is a screenshot from a mybodywpg story. There’s a question box in the Centre that asks how are you, really? And the response shown says ‘awful I want to quit. I don’t know why I thought I could be successful. On the top and bottom of the question box is typed text that reads ‘imposter syndrome is a real b. I feel it daily. Success has so many definitions and I think we tend to only view success one way (typically lots of money/power/influence/things) which causes all other things we do and accomplish in the process feel like failures. I promise you are not failing. Try and think about how literally no one else can do what you do, exactly how you do it. That’s the magic. You are magic. 3rd and 4th slide are the same as the first but with purple background on the 3rd and blue background on the 4th.] See more

What are you doing to fill yourself up lately? They say we’re all basically plants with anxiety right? We need Light ... Water Nourishment A safe place to rest Movement Love + Support Never forget that not only do you need all these things, but you are worthy and deserving of them as well! What are you doing to give to yourself during this time Are you emptying yourself out more than you’re bringing in What are you doing to do to bring in more things that fill you up; physically, mentally, and emotionally If you’re a health care and/or essential worker you’re likely giving way more than you’re taking in care wise. ‘Thank you’ still doesn’t feel like enough for our health care and essential workers...and this post asking you to give yourself care probably doesn’t feel like an option right now. So I’ll say this...We see you and we love you. And to anyone reading this I’ll ask you, what are you doing to support our healthcare + essential workers right now and in the coming weeks? Today is Orange Shirt Day A good day for reflection, education, and action. The last residential school closed in 1996, but anti-Indigenous racism and discrimination are still deeply prevalent today and it is all of our responsibility to keep talking about it and take steps towards real substantial change. Make sure to check out our stories today because the wonderful @sentillab is doing an incredible takeover on all things Orange Shirt Day. Orange Shirt Day is a legacy ...of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in the spring of 2013. It grew out of the story of a child having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually. [image description: picture of an Orange t shirt laying on a white blanket. The shirt has white cursive text that reads Every Child Matters. Art by @shytheartist__ Breonna Taylor deserves better. Black Women + Femmes deserve better. Justice was not served. Property was held in higher regard to a human life. Her neighbour’s walls received justice before her. It’s not surprising, that is the gut wrenching reality. It doesn’t show that the system is broken but rather perfectly illustrates that it was built that way and has now leveled up to some how cause even more harm. Breonna should be alive. There should be ...justice for her and her family. Her murderers should not be getting off scott free. If your instincts are telling you to defend the system/people that caused/did this, it’s time to sit tf down and get to work. It’s long past time to tear it all down and build something new. The question we need to keep asking ourselves is how are we going to be a part of it? #justiceforbreonnataylor Link in Bio and stories to take action Also head to @blmlouisville and Donate to the bail fund for protestors. Take care of yourselves in every way you can, and we’re here for you if you need to get rid of any stressful energy and/or need an infusion of positive supportive energy!!! If someone’s love for you is conditional on what your skin bag looks like, the price is too high. Those who LOVE you, don’t love you because of the size of your waist or shape of your arms. They love YOU, the multidimensional human being who lives in the body. They can appreciate and enjoy your body and its shapes as well, but at the root, those who love you do not care what you look like. Now...Diet culture is a powerful force so often comments on our bodies can come from... those we love and those who love us. Even to a point where those commenting, might even be thinking that by critiquing your body they are helping you. When this happens remember that it’s not really about youIt’s about diet culture that’s deeply rooted in white supremacy, fatphobia, and ableism. Help inform them of your boundaries You are allowed to set boundaries Set them You are allowed to tell someone when they’ve caused harm Protect your energy If you’ve commented on someone’s body recently or in the past, you’re not a bad person, you’ve been conditioned by diet culture, and chances are if it was to someone you love they know that you meant well. But now you know better, so you can do better! Learning is awesome hey? Just because someone’s body has changed doesn’t mean you have to comment on it. People that love you, should love you for YOU, not the skin bag you walk around in Let them [image description: A light and darker pink background with a white Reminder pop up box that says: Reminder: People who love you should love you for YOU, not your skin bag. It’s September 1st And I don’t know about you but I’m feeling all the things with this transition into Fall. So I decided to make this video satire so that maybe someone watching it might feel a little less alone There is so much uncertainty ahead. Keep Going There’s a Global Pandemic. Keep each other Safe & Keep Going... You may feel overwhelmed and things might feel more difficult than normal, you can do hard things. Keep Going Your new Boundaries May make others uncomfortable, honour them anyway. Keep Going You may be in pain, feel it, honour it, take rest. Keep Going We are in the largest civil rights movement in history, do not stop doing the work, showing up, caring, taking action. Keep Going There will likely be days, weeks, maybe even months where you don’t feel optimistic, positive, motivated. You don’t have to be. Feel your Feels. Lift Each Other Up. Know that you are loved, and important. You’ve made it this far...KEEP GOING [video Description: Brooke wearing great waffle pattern sweatpants and a white tank top. Doing actions dictated by the text boxes that read: September is Here. Heading into Fall with... My Optimistic self-Brooke dances. The Global Pandemic- Brooke does a sneaky walk wearing a mask and holding a spray bottle of Clorox cleaner. My Mental Health- Brooke wrapped head to toe in a large white duvet with only her face visible, her expression looks wide eyed and stressed. The new boundaries I’ve created- Brooke holds her hands out in front of her like a ‘stop’ gesture then brings her hands in to hug herself. My Chronic Pain- Brooke laying face down on the floor not moving. The crucial work of the Largest Civil Rights movement in History- Brooke standing wearing a black shirt and black mask holding out two cardboard signs in front of her that say ‘Black Lives Matter’ and ‘Not another Indigenous Life’. My Keep Going side- Brooke takes a quick breath in and out nods her head purposefully and starts dancing again.] See more

REPOST @lifeofshimmy One of my fave mamas on the internet She chats in this post about the heaviness of this year and also the uncertainty surrounding what’s to come, and what needs to be done. Go follow and support her Posted @withregram @lifeofshimmy Oooh has it been a year for us! The climate has been heavy and sad. Constantly feels like one thing after another.. I can tell you I’ve had to take days off my phone because I’ve been angry and reactive .. I can tell... you I’ve cried and had conversations with the universe and I’ve wished bad on some. Never knew this side of me existed especially now at this age.. but I have brothers, my partner, my children especially my son, cousins, uncles ,friends and I choose not to be quiet! So yes I have to take days sometimes to not get too emotional as I’m carrying number 3 and I need not do anything irrational. But honestly.. here’s to not giving up! For YOU [video description: Gentle music plays in the background piano and vocals sing along to a James Blake Tiktok clip. Brooke starts off wearing a white linen top and a wide brim straw hat. She looks lovingly at the camera while text boxes come up she points to them. The text boxes read as follows: Hi perfect human, I have a question for you. How are you today? As in, how are you really? If you’re not feeling great or are feeling overwhelmed, I’m here with you. It’...s ok if you don’t feel ok today. Let’s check in on some things that might make us feel more grounded and ok. We’ll do it together. First up let’s get into a cozy outfit (Brooke’s outfit changes here to a blue crew neck sweat with clouds on it). One that makes us feel safe and warm. Are we thirsty? Let’s try some water. Hungry? Let’s get a snack! (Opens a notebook and holds out a pen) Want to write down some words/feelings? (Holds an iPhone and starts typing) Text/Call/FaceTime someone who makes you feel safe. CW: mention of diet culture, orthorexia, disordered eating First things first, this is my opinion but I have proof...when I was deep in diet culture and orthorexia I brought a container of cauliflower rice for lunch (yes that was my entire lunch, sh*t was dark)...And I microwaved it to warm it up...The entire upstairs office and lunch room smelt like farts for like a week. If any of my old co-workers see this, I still think about this all the time lol...and from the bottom... of my heart, my bad Listen, cauliflower is a wonderful food, as cauliflower. Cauliflower ‘rice’ is one of the clever lies of diet culture that teaches you to demonize certain foods. So this is your reminder... FOOD DOES NOT HAVE MORAL VALUE. If you want cauliflower eat cauliflower. If you want rice eat rice. You are not a better person if you eat cauliflower instead of rice. Just like you’re not a worse person for eating rice. Diet culture is fickle, manipulative, and deeply rooted in conformity and oppression You are allowed to listen to your body, because it truly knows best at all times. We are programmed to believe that finding pleasure in food is wrong. This makes us believe that we shouldn’t be eating something if it tastes delicious to us, makes us feel happiness and comfort. Or that we should find a substitute for it... YOU DON’T HAVE TO EARN YOUR FOOD Now go forth into your weekend and diet culture!! Disclaimer: This post is in reference to dieting and restriction for aesthetic and diet culture motivated reasons. This reference does not and should not include or make reference to those who have dietary restrictions due to allergies, chronic conditions, illnesses or otherwise in which they must alter their eating and in some cases restrict in order to nourish their bodies in the best way possible for their specific needs. CHANGE We focus so much on what we want to change about ourselves and our bodies, we forget how miraculous we are as is...And almost never give time to bring focus to the opposite. And when we do, we’re told to stop being vain. But always remember... Your body is just the skin bag you walk around in, but it’s not your fault for feeling the desire to change it. Diet culture and the white supremacist patriarchy are what make us feel like our bodies need to change i...n order to fit into a discriminatory standard of beauty. Change/wanting change isn’t bad. Change is a sign of life. Just like how our bodies are not meant to stay the same throughout our lives. (If you really think about it how weird would that be? All of us just looking the exact same year after year...) So ‘change’ in itself is also something we can learn to embrace, as it means our bodies are taking care of and shifting with us as we grow...how MAGICAL Things we wouldn’t want to change about ourselves don’t have to have anything to do with your skin bag. It can be about not changing your passion, your drive, your strength, your resilience, your desire to learn, your ability to give love, how awesome you are at hugs. The list is truly endless if you think about it These feelings about wanting to change our bodies are especially heightened around times like these. Maybe your body has changed during the pandemic & you’re blaming it for daring to change shape to protect you during a global crisis state. (Which is a normal conditioned feeling) but it doesn’t mean that what it has changed to is bad. Also, diet culture ads from health/wellness companies promoting restriction, weight loss challenges, cleanses etc. May make you feel anxious about returning to movement, even if it’s at your fave gym, or space to move. My suggestion? Find a movement SPACE and PACE that honours your body in all its stages & doesn’t promote changing it only for discriminatory beauty/health standards. And, practice trying to SHIFT YOUR FOCUS, away from your body/self and the things you wish could be different Comment Below something about yourself you wouldn’t want to change See more

REPOST In acknowledgement + action for #DisabilityPrideMonth Photo and Caption from @thecomradecloset I didn’t wake up in terrible pain today, which means I am back to channeling my anxiety into writing and making things. Being in a flare while constantly seeing news about COVID-19 has been a lot to hold - it can be hard to know where the line is between preparedness and paranoia, especially if you’re already dealing with multiple forms of disability and illness. But... I’ve also seen so many resources being shared, people trying to do their best with what they have, and people becoming more seriously invested in fighting ableist capitalism in interpersonal and institutional ways. I’ve been working on a longer zine around autonomy, disability, grief and crip time so I’ve really been dialed in at both a micro and macro level, thinking about the short and long term. EXERCISE SHOULD NOT BE A FORM OF PUNISHMENT Exercise should NOT be a form of punishment for The way you look Something you ate or want to eat... Not fitting into clothing Not being ready for a season, trip, event (You’re ready. Stop postponing experiencing because of the way your body looks.) Joyful Movement Exists. The diet/fitness world just doesn’t want you to find it because then their industry will begin to crumble. If we finally dismiss and dismantle the white supremacist patriarchal ideology that ‘cis, thin, white, able bodied’= standard of health/fitness There is little room for profit for those who make their money off of telling you your body is wrong. Buh-bye crash diets, weight loss ‘challenges’, diets cloaked in wellness, exercising only for aesthetics, and archaic racist/ableist/fatphobic standards of health *cough* BMI *cough* If movement and exercise becomes about something more than what your body looks like all that will happen is that the guilt/shame cycle that was associated with your movement routine goes away! Your relationship with movement transforms into; What am I capable of? What makes me feel good? Then transforming again into...I feel so powerful and at home in my body. I feel safe, supported, and challenged I have a community that accommodates and supports me and my body’s needs/desires. What my body looks like is irrelevant to all the gloriousness that is Me! A Changed Body is NOT a ruined body As things start to slowly reopen after being in a period of isolation with our bodies it’s likely that our bodies may have experienced some changes. Can you guess what I’m going to say? That’s normal. Maybe you’ve gained weight, maybe you’ve lost weight...maybe you’ve built muscle, maybe muscles have atrophied. Maybe there are things you could do before quarantine that you can’t do now. Any resulted change is you adapting to your environ...ment and circumstance. Your body is not failing you. Change is a sign of LIFE. Also what else has happened? What have you learnt during this time? How have you felt? What have you discovered? Have your priorities changed? Has your perspective changed? Maybe this time has brought more deep self discovery, awakening & new purpose than you ever imagined...Maybe this time has been the most gut wrenchingly tragic and traumatic time of your life, and you survived it, & continued to push forward because back to normal is not an option. Are you really going to disregard all of that because your skin suit changed its shape? Now in most places, gyms are starting to open back up again and because this reopening is also coinciding with summer....the summer body diet trolls and marketing schemes are on their way...& they’re bringing with them crash diets, sh*t yourself teas, quick fix programs, Fatphobia and Ableism deeply rooted in white supremacy and oppression. You do not need to go on a crash diet. You do not need to poop yourself for 3 days straight (looking at detox teas here) to achieve a seemingly flatter stomach so that Fatphobic beach trolls might be slightly less terrible. You don’t owe the world a smaller version of yourself, literally or figuratively. Show up as you are. Take up space as you are. Do the things that make you feel amazing. Find the forms of movement that are accessible and feel Joyful for you. Wear the things that make you feel unstoppable. Don’t tolerate the people who don’t celebrate you as you are, or want to sell you a shame filled fantasy of what they think you should be. A changed body is not a ruined body, a changed body still carries YOU. See more

Back to ‘normal’? I don’t know her. In all seriousness, things on this page are about to look quite different.A gym like My Body would not exist if it wasn’t for the physical, mental & emotional labour of Black women & femmes who started the BoPo movement back in the 1960s, or w/o the labour of humans who are continually marginalized by our society; Black folx, Indigenous folx, non-Black and non-Indigenous people of colour, all 2SLGBTQIA+ and non-binary/GNC folx, Disabled ...and chronically ill folx. Dismantling Diet culture within health and fitness spaces is very important but it is not enough on its own. We must also be working to dismantle white supremacy because the health and fitness world runs rampant with it. I’ve been centering myself too much on this page & that’s the bottom line. I won’t go into extreme detail taking up more space talking about what I am doing or what My Body is doing as a company to further the work of anti racism & dismantle systems of white supremacy within ourselves & our community. But, Dms are always open Ally/Accomplice is a verb and not a title white folx (myself included) can just claim. (Which I have done in the past)From now on, speaking of this page specifically, you will see a lot more sharing of Black, Indigenous, non-Black & non-Indigenous people of colour, 2SLGBTQIA+ folx, Disabled folx & creators in the body liberation/fitness/wellness/social justice spaces & otherwise who I’ve been & continue to learn from. So I hope you stick around. You will only see my face/body occasionally for important announcements/info on internal promos or events, and/or some My Body Joyful movement related contentExamples: a demo video of multiple ways to do an exercise, other joyful movement demos, videos/pics of classes & clients w/ client consent. Etc. So, no we will be not be returning to ‘normal’. ‘Normal’ is deceased. (shout out to @ashleyjdaniels_ for this one) This ‘normal’ was contributing to oppression. I can’t continue to run a business/page like My Body w/o taking real continual action to dismantle white supremacy & all that it upholds. Fellow white ppl, this is gut wrenching work, cuz no matter who we are, we’re all complicit in white supremacy. But to quote @rachel.cargle White Feelings should never be held in higher regard than Black Lives. That’s how we got here. And no we don’t get cookies and praise from marginalized folx for doing the bare minimum, so let’s stop expecting it. Our moments of discomfort are nothing compared to centuries of oppression. We are officially in the largest civil rights movement of our lifetime, and it’s just getting started.

Meet Whitley Read Below to Learn More! Posted @withregram @the_intersectionaltherapist Hi There! My name is Whitley Grant and I would like to welcome you to my page. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addiction specialist in Raleigh,NC. I currently work in higher education. This page will be used to highlight various issues affecting communities of color. Mental Health in the past has been taboo for the black community. We often ...times only have a narrow view of what mental health treatment means not realizing that at some point in our lives we can all benefit from therapy. In my experience my work has been threefold. I focus on how mental health, substance misuse and intimate partner violence present in communities of color. Each of these affect communities of color at much higher rates. Therefore it is important that mental health professionals of color work to increase awareness and provide strategies to deal with each of these. I hope you find some inspiration from this page. It is proven that there is power in both words and community. I look forward to connecting with you. #blacktherapistsmatter #blackmentalhealthmatters Ways to support Whitley in addition to following + sharing with consent Cash-app: whitleygrant27 Venmo: @whitley-Grant-1 #amplifymelanatedvoices This challenge was originally created by @jessicawilson.msrd and @blackandembodied to help amplify Black Voices. Meet @thenutritiontea otherwise known as Shana Minei Spence, MS, RDN, CDN Shana is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist based in New York. She labels herself as an "eat anything" dietitian. Life is already complicated, why restrict yourself? She wanted to create a platform for open discussion on nutrition and wellness topics considering all the information circulating around these days. Was she always interested in nutrition? No. In the not so long ago past she worked in... the fashion industry and hated it. (Joke to herself: I got a B.S in Fashion Merchandising...get it?) She decided to make a change, go back to school and became involved in food policy and public health. Update: She loves what she does and wants to share as much as possible. She also provides counseling via the virtual world! Make sure to visit and follow her Instagram and the link in her bio at @thenutritiontea Shana has said that the best ways you can support right now are to go follow, share, like, comment. Today I learnt from several folx regarding the Black Out Tuesday posting of Black Squares what the original initiative was for this day before black squares with the Black Lives Matter and Black Out Tuesday hashtags started flooding feeds with black squares and pushing resources and up to date info, and important links out of reach. The original initiative was using the hashtag TheShowMustBePaused (@theshowmustbepaused ) which was created by two Black women in the music/enter...tainment industry, Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang. If you have shared a black square in solidarity please consider removing the Black Lives Matter + Black Out Tuesday hashtags. I’ve been told that you may actually have to delete the whole post and then repost without hashtags, because editing only may not remove the post from the algorithm. Please note: Resources, Links, accounts to follow have been updated again. In the Link in Below you will find the document that contains all active links posted in the above slides. Slide 1- Instagram handles listed of a few of the Black Creators I learnt from today alone. Slides 2-5 Organizations + Links listed to support, and petitions to sign. Listed above and Directly linked in bio. Slides 6+7 Local Organizations in Winnipeg to support. Listed above Linked in Bio. Slide 8- A disclaimer that for some of the petitions being run by US organizations and families you may need a US Zip Code to sign, and some zip codes have been provided. Below that are other resources in the form of linked articles and documents including; Talk to Kids About Race, Anti-Racism Resource Pack for White Folx, and Resources for non-Black folx to support Black Communities in Canada. Slide 9- Resources for non-Black folx to support Black Communities in Canada plus link is listed more clearly at the top, and a short list of recommended Books that were not already listed in the previous linked document ‘Anti-Racism Resource Packet for White Folx’. Please Swipe Through to Read The Gofundme for QPOC Winnipeg has been deleted. Regardless of my intentions I have made a grave error in assuming that I could take it upon myself as an individual to start a fundraiser on behalf of an organization without having their express permission nor having them directly involved. White privilege is violent and I still have so much work to do. This was a call in that I am very grateful for! I do not want to be a part of the problem. I will learn from this and do better with my personal and business actions. Thank you, to this incredible community that I am so deeply privileged to have. @ Winnipeg, Manitoba

It’s my Birthday today, and if I’m being completely honest with all of you I don’t feel like celebrating much at all. I’m lucky enough that I’m going to get to spend some quality (distanced) time with my family today which I am so grateful for Even though I don’t feel like celebrating I do have a few special birthday requests... Over the past few days I’ve been collecting resources, links, petitions, gofundme’s, etc to directly support Black Folx. And resources for White... folx to start the work of anti-racism. I do not own nor did I create any of the listed resources, books, links, fundraisers, or petitions. I have simply compiled them into this document. This doc will be updated as I continue to research & review more resources, so please keep checking in for new stuff every day.
