I had the opportunity last night to listen to Becoming Minimalist Joshua Becker on a zoom call. What an amazing evening! Joshua has been an inspiration in my life especially when it comes to living with less! You can find alot of similarities between his philosophy and mine on how to manage possessions. Happy Monday! . I’ve been walking you through my top four spaces in your home that you should tackle in order to get SUMMER READY! . Today I’m chatting all about kid’s clothes! I don’t know about you but I definitely don’t want to be inside sifting and sorting through my kid’s closet on a hot day! ... . We all know that kids grow like weeds. Spring + Fall seasons are a reminder to go through my kid’s clothing. Here are some tips that you can do this week: . Get your kid to help! Have a little try on sesh to determine what still fits. . Prepare for two seasons at a time. Spring + Summer then Fall + Winter. . Keep an ongoing list on your phone regarding the clothing they need. . Create capsule wardrobes for their nicer clothing. . Only keep seasonal clothing in their closet/dresser. . Remember, the more clothes your kids have the more laundry you will be doing! So keep want they need and declutter the extra! . How did I go from chaos to calm? I started implementing daily routines that eventually formed habits. I created a calm space (living room) where no toys were allowed.... Didn’t realize this! Totally a minimalist in this way! . 2. I love to share our simple DIY projects...look at the wall behind me, this is our current one! . 3. I don’t like to read instructions. Yep, I’m a hands on learner...maybe this is why I don’t like to cook as I have to read recipes. . 4. I’m really good at directions! Yep, I rarely get lost and I memorize the map before heading out any place new. . 5. I’m an introvert. I like my quiet moments (with coffee of course)! . 6. My top emojis are You will see them a lot from me! . 7. I’m a Christian Minimalist which means that my faith is my foundation on how I run my home, family, & life and minimalism is just one tool I use practically in my daily life. . 8. I’m in my 10th year of being a SAHM! And I’ve never regretted my choice to be home. . 9. I only wear socks to survive Canadian winters. . 10. I love trying new things and going to new places. I couldn’t help myself. I had to have a home that was filled with beautiful things. Things that other people had in their homes, things that were Instagram worthy, and things that filled up empty spaces. . Thankfully I realized that those things did not make my home beautiful but made it look cluttered. Those things did not bring a smile to my face but stress. I am thankful that my home doesn’t have to be beautiful based upon the things inside but more upon the people who res...ide there. . I turned my attention on them. On my people and started to eliminate the things in my home that did not add value to the lifestyle I wanted to create for them. Do your kid’s love to read? . We have encouraged reading starting at a young age for our kids. We carve out time during the day to read, we’ve implemented family reading time, and also created reading nooks in their room. . We recently moved our boys (9 & 3) to the same room in order to give my daughter her own room (7). I made sure that both rooms had a place to store their books. I had an idea and my husband went to work making this book shelf for the boys. Now they ca...n curl up on their bed and read! . Kid room tip: in order for their room to stay tidy, remove toys!
