Intel Launches New 8-core Intel Core i7 Processor Extreme Edition and Intel Solid-State Drive 730 Series 3 September 2014 Calling all enthusiasts: Intel recently unveiled the new 8-core Intel Core i7 processor Extreme Edition, which is unlocked to enable users to overclock their hardware to new performance levels. Touting the 730 Series as the combination of enthusiast-grade speed and data center endurance, Intel has released some testing specs for the new SSD that should appeal to the enthusiast crowd. Designed with content creators and gamers in mind, the 730 Series is rated for 70GB writes per day, 1 compared to the industry-standard 20GB. The specs also reveal that you can get up to 1,000 MB/s sequential read speeds by combining two 730 Series drives in RAID 0,2 which is nearly double the sequential read speed compared to just one 730 Series drive on its own.
