This is exactly where I needed to be right now. Yet I still tried to resist it. I thought I should really go for a run or do something more intense but my body is SO much wiser than my mind.... And so is yours! Your body knows what it needs. Some days its a full blown HIIT workout with all the burpees and jump squats and all the sweat and more sweat! Other days its laying on your mat in childs pose. Dont be afraid to listen. Your body is never wrong. TRX 20 Minute Workout The kids were playing video games in my workout room and I had 20 minutes to get my sweat on. COVID times mean we need to make the most of our space and our time! So I took my workout to the yard using one of my fave fitness tools ever. It was a simple but super effective session so I wanted to share.... ============================================== Heres the TRX Workout (Only the first video is shown here but you can access all the video clips on my instagram page at instagram.com/myfitcoachkim) Reverse lunge with a kick 10-15 reps each leg(you can take the kick out to modify) TRX Row 10-15 reps Jump Squats 15-20 reps (modify by taking out the jump) TRX Reverse Shoulder Press 15-20 reps Repeat for 4-5 sets ============================================= A FEW TIPS: If you dont have a TRX, you can do a bent over row with dumbbells (instead of the TRX row) and Dumbbell shoulder presses (instead of the TRX Reverse Shoulder press). The lower body exercises can be done with bodyweight only or dumbbells too if the TRX isnt an option. How long does it ACTUALLY take to create a habit? 21 Days? 12 Weeks?... The answer is, well, maybe and also maybe not.... When I was a teenager I remember hearing something about it taking 21 days to build a habit. Which is why I was shocked to know that after 21 days of cutting sugar or bread or whatever it was I STILL didnt have it in the bag. Everyone is different and we all respond to changes (whether big or small) very differently. That made me feel a bit better and I hope it eases your mind too. The truth is that it actually takes a lot longer than 21 days for our brain to solidify something new. So how long does it ACTUALLY take to form a habit? Should you ditch your bad habits before you start working on a new healthy one? What did Kim do when she lost her kid on a bike ride a few weeks ago and how do Kim and Andrea feel about Stacey and Clinton from #whatnottowear? This is Donna. She's Grandma Donna or Gigi to my family and me. Donna loves jazz music, Tony Bennett, and has always been killer at "accessorizing". Her earring and necklace combos have always been on point!... Grandma Donna is still here with us and her spirit is big... but we've lost a big part of her to Alzheimer's. On May 31, my family and I will be virtually "walking' for Grandma Donna to raise funds for The Alzheimer's Society. Some of every dollar raised by our local Society goes to research to find a cure. IT FEELS GOOD TO BE FREE I struggled HARD with my body image for years. I thought I needed to look a certain way, be a certain way. I was never quite right. ... My body was too big, too muscley , not dainty enough. My Eating disorder started when I was about 18 and continued to my mid 20s. And for anyone thats been down that road, you know that it never really goes away. But Im at a good place now. I have the tools I need and an understanding that it was never really about my body anyhow. It was always a search for worth. A worth that I now know is innate. I had to use my dragon mother voice twice this morning in order to make this happen I mean, in my defence there were light sabres and footballs flying around while I was trying to achieve this ultra zen state you see pictured here Im not proud of the yelling. And I will be apologizing shortly to my children about this. ... But I am proud that I fought for this moment today. 30 minutes on my mat to breathe and just be Kim for a minute. I want these boys of mine to see a Mom who ask for what she needs (even if that sometimes means she says it in her dragon mother voice ). I want them to see a Mom who takes care of herself, despite feeling a little haphazard at all times. And a Mom who is happy even though she needs a bit (or a lot) of time by herself to get there. Anyone else feel like you yell a lot in order to get what you need? Its cool. We all do it. I honestly believe were all just doing our best. And sometimes your best is awkward. Balance takes practice. Sometimes you lose it. But you can always find it again. Its never far. Fitness metaphors are lighting up in my brain today as I do my workout. Check it out... In this video, Im working on rebuilding my balance and strength after a pretty nasty ankle sprain. ... My balance is a little off. But I keep course correcting. I use the wall for support. Re-set when I fall down and I try again. Not every part of me is broken. My right side (not shown) works pretty well! The fitness metaphor??? Balance always exists in some part of you. You may not have it in every area of your life at all times but there are always things that are working. Dont lose sight of this! And if theyre not, get some support. Metaphorically use the wall! And when you fall down, take a breath and try it all again. Youll get it. Keep your head up. Balance exists in some part of you. Be grateful for where youre killing it right now. Ps. It is not lost on me that there are screaming kids in the background of this video. Like I said...balance

I was gettin squirrelly on vacay so I did this... - Im the only one at the cottage today who thought this was a good idea. And at first I felt kinda weird slipping away for a half hour to bust my off In the front yard. - But now I feel like me again and I can go back to the kids and company feeling happy and excited to rock the day.... - Self care looks different to everyone. If a workout is your thing and nobody elses, dont apologize for it. Same thing if you just need to curl up in the corner and read a book...you do you! - On a side note, todays cottage workout was a mix of TRX, mini bands and this random elevated plank I made up on a bench. Hey... Im still here!!! I havent been hanging here as much lately because Ive been busier than normal...but its a good kind of busy! And I wanted to give you an update... So in addition to my usual grind of running an Online Fitness biz, ghost-writing health and fitness blogs, and just tryna be an awesome wife and Mom, I got a new job!... Ive taken on a new role supporting someone else in their Health and Wellness biz and its pretty awesome to say the least. But things have shifted so much in the last few months and I didnt really account for all the shifts that would bring in other areas of my life. Ive been feeling guilty and anxious that I havent posted on social media much. Ive been feeling like I need to be on in this space for a long time. Always showing up, sharing and serving. Ive been feeling torn between supporting someone elses business and vision and my own. And I came to a conclusion I cant do it all! So heres what Ive decided. My Fit Coach and the Just Sweat Program are still very much open for business Ill be continuing to support my existing clients and giving em all Ive got! They are my people! My One on One Personal Training timeslots are at capacity for now. Ill keep you posted if that changes. I want to give my best and that means knowing my limits. and last but certainly not least, Ill still be hanging out here from time to time. But Im aiming for quality over quantity. Showing up with a little more intention, even if it means its a little bit less. Still fitness, food, feelings, mom life and all that Jazz. And maybe a few new topics depending on what curveball life wants to throw my way... So Thanks for hanging with me here on the old Social media. Volleyball = awesome glutes!!! . Sometimes I make use of the random crap my kids (or I) leave lying around. . Today I decided to toss this volleyball behind my knee for some old school glute/hip work. Man did it make a difference in activation (this is trainer speak for I really felt it!... . I did 3 sets of 20 reps followed by 20 tricep dips, 20 pushups and then I did the sideways version 20 times (I sometimes call these fire hydrants...can you guess why? ) . I also added this little routine after my morning walk because we are a busy fam today and it took only 10 minutes. . Gotta fit it in where you can! I wanna talk about your health today. Not your bikini body or how skinny you are. Thats not Health, its vanity and it doesnt matter on your death bed. We had a health scare in our family last week and it rocked us. Everything and everyone is going to be ok (right now thats all Id like to share on social media). But it opened our eyes wide to so many things. You like me may still be young enough that you dont really think about your longevity. You may notice a few wrinkl...es here and there and that your body doesnt recover as quickly as it used to. But Youre still pretty young and youve got time right? But you honestly never know. Its important to know your family health history and stay on top of it. Lifestyle is huge and I will never undermine the benefit of taking care of your health but there are other factors too. Know your risk factors and dont take them lightly. You are not invincible. Now I also dont believe in fear mongering and trying to scare people healthy. It doesnt work. But what Im asking for you today is to look at where youre at with your health in a really honest, objective way. Are you living in a high stress environment? Are you eating a vegetable from time to time or do most of your meals come from a box? Do you get your heart rate up on a regular basis? Do you go to your doctor when something is off or do you just hope it goes away? Do you have meaningful relationships and connections? That crap matters! Ive never really wanted to help women look hot in bikinis. This just seemed to be what they want and I happen to be able to help. What Ive always really wanted and want even more now is for you to be a 98 year old woman who can still live alone if she wants to, has a mad active social life and could arm wrestle a 30 year old and win. Thats health. Im reconsidering mine right now and I encourage you to do the same. I have little people I want to be around for. You are not invincible but you do have the power to fight back and take charge of your health...its everything.
