SUFFED FLANK STEAK ROLLS. Ingredients for 6 rolls: 2 tablespoons avocado oil 2tablespoons of butter 3 tablespoons garlic, chopped... 2 onions, chopped 2 cups mushrooms thinly sliced tablespoon salt ( I use Redmond real salt ) tablespoon freshly ground black pepper 2 lb flank steak 4 oz fresh baby spinach (115 g), 1 package 9 slices provolone cheese Preparation: Preheat oven to 350F (175C). Heat the butter in a pan over medium heat, add diced onion, cook till translucent then add sliced mushrooms. Cook till most of the water has evaporated and add salt, pepper & garlic. Stir and cook for one more minute. Remove from heat and set aside. Lay the flank steak on a cutting board. Pound it with a meat mallet to make sure it’s all an even thickness. Add salt and pepper on both sides, to taste. Spoon the mushroom and onion mixture on top, spreading it evenly across the steak. Sprinkle the spinach on top, followed by the slices of provolone. Press down lightly to compress the spinach. Starting at the bottom of the flank steak, roll it up tightly, making sure the grain of the meat is running horizontally. Use six toothpicks to secure the steak roll. Slice the steak roll into six equal rolls. Heat the avocado oil in a pan over high heat. Sear the steak rolls on one side for one to two minutes, then flip. Sear the second side for about one minute, then bake for 1015 minutes, until medium rare. Remove the toothpicks, then serve! #flanksteak #flanksteakrolls #beef #provolonecheese #spinach #stuffedflanksteak #glutenfree #healthy #ketolifestyle #ketosis #nutrientdense See more

Posted @withregram @bernadette.abraham Gallbladder removal is one of the most common surgeries today. When it’s life threatening, of course surgery is needed. BUT! You don’t wake-up with an infection or a sac filled with gallstones overnight! Knowing the early warning signs is important because hello! the gallbladder is NOT optional.... Here’s how it works. The liver makes bile a soup-like fluid that drips out of the liver and gets stored in the gallbladder yes, our very own storage tank. When we eat a meal containing fats, the gallbladder contracts and dumps a concentrated amount of bile into the intestines for several functions, but mainly: 1- to help break down fats so we can absorb fats and vitamins A, D, E & K 2- to excrete toxins through stool If you’ve already had your GB removed, then it’s important to take bile salts with meals to mimic the same action. But eating a high sugar/refined carb diet that leads to high cholesterol, or eating bad oils and inflammatory fats (i.e. trans fats), or being exposed to many toxins & ongoing stress, or having suboptimal magnesium and digestive function all of these can cause thicker and more sludge-y bile which makes it prone to crystallization/stones. So removing an infected gallbladder just removes the victim you still haven’t addressed the true culprit! What are some warning signs? your stool floats, is consistently lighter in color, or there’s a greasy film in the water indicating fat malabsorption your skin is always dry despite eating healthy fats pain on the right side of your ribs, especially after eating a fatty meal an elevated alkaline phosphatase marker (even within the reference range) in typical labwork Let me know if you’d like more info on how to support the liver and gallbladder next. Hope this was a helpful start. So many scientific studies and proof that what you eat and supplement matters especially right now during the pandemic, yet a lot of physicians say it does not matter. Mind blowing. Take responsibility for your own health and well being.

Posted @withregram @healthcoachkait Insulin resistance will lead to type 2 diabetes if it is not addressed but it goes largely undiagnosed... Insulin resistance can start years before there is a change in your fasting blood sugar so testing blood sugar alone is not enough. Signs of insulin resistance include:... abdominal fat skin tags dark skin patches hunger after eating high blood pressure difficulty losing weight If you suspect you are insulin resistant, you want to address it early! By doing so you can stop it before end up with type 2 diabetes, PCOS or heart disease. Ask your doctor for a HOMA-IR test This measures your fasting insulin and blood sugar and will give you a score. If your score is: <1 you are insulin sensitive >2 in the early stages of insulin resistance >3 very insulin resistant The best way to reverse insulin resistance? Keep insulin LOW! Eat a low insulin (carb) diet Practice intermittent fasting Check out the my YouTube playlist called "Insulin Resistance" for a better understanding and more tips on how to reverse it! November is National Diabetes Month, a time when people across the country come together to raise awareness about the disease. To support this cause, we’d like ...to highlight a new publication showing the potential impact of low-carb nutrition on long-term health markers and type-2 diabetes. Despite data suggesting carbohydrate-restriction can be an effective intervention for type-2 diabetes, and its recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as a viable treatment option, low-carb diets are often criticized for being unsustainable, lacking long-term data, and being unrealistic in clinical settings. A new publication in BMJ Nutrition, Prevention and Health has shown that low-carb diets are not only effective but are sustainable, can improve markers of long-term health, and can reduce or in some cases completely eliminate the need for type-2 diabetes medications. The results came from a single practice located in England where low-carb diets were successfully incorporated into routine practice over 6-years. Specifically, this study looked at the outcomes when patients with newly diagnosed and pre-existing type-2 diabetes or prediabetes were given the choice to adopt a low-carb diet. Those who adopted the diet were educated on dietary choices, how carbohydrates affect their blood sugar, and how to recognize foods with high glycemic loads - all with access to on-going support. In our practice, the idea of drug-free remission of T2D has inspired many patients and clinicians, the authors stated. Over the 6-year period, patients that adopted a low-carb diet adhered for a mean duration of 23-months. Significant improvements were reported for weight loss, HbA1c (measure long-term blood sugar levels), lipid profiles, and blood pressure. Better yet, at 23-months, 46% of all the patients with type-2 diabetes achieved drug-free remission, meaning they achieved an HbA1c below 6.5% without antidiabetic medication. Of those with prediabetes, the same benefits in health markers were attained, but with an astounding 93% achieving a normal HbA1c with a low-carb diet. The really cool part about this paper is the discussion around what is practical for patients; breaking down the barriers that prevent more widespread use of low-carb diets for type-2 diabetes. Instead of advising patients to portion control or count carbohydrates, they were taught how to identify better food choices with simple infographics in addition to individualized follow-up and multidisciplinary group sessions. In the paper discussion, the authors write, Our data suggest a more simple and practical approach to lowering dietary carbohydrate can be associated with significant improvements in HbA1c, weight, lipid profiles and BP without the need for precise daily carbohydrate or calorie counting. For anyone interested in the clinical application of low-carbohydrate diets, we recommend visiting the link below to read the full paper and don’t forget to check out the supplementary material for further resources on their specific protocols and how they discuss physiology with patients!
