"As outlined in a November 12, 2020 Global News article, more British Columbians are now hospitalized with COVID-19 than at any time in the pandemic so far. At her Thursday briefing, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said 155 people were in hospital with the virus. The previous record of 149 was recorded in the first week of April." November is fall prevention month. This year, preventing falls is a greater challenge because many seniors spend a considerable amount of time in quarantine which makes it difficult for them to stay active. Less exercise leads to a greater risk of falling. We are committed to helping these seniors by participating in an educational campaign to give seniors information on how they can still be active even in isolation. #fallprevention #fallinseniors #seniorshealth #healtheducation #preventingfalls

Because of a decreased number of visits from loved ones, many seniors have gradually lost their interest in staying active and healthy. Years of helping seniors taught us how we can be successful in motivating them to keep moving. Our latest blog provides insight to these lessons learned. https://www.myhomerehab.ca//how-to-motivate-seniors-to-exe

"The loss of adaptive immunity that comes with older age not only makes people more susceptible to infections; it can also reactivate dormant pathogens that were previously suppressed. In addition, the weaker adaptive immunity of older adults means that their bodies respond less strongly to vaccinations, such as the annual flu shot." https://bit.ly/3aBTysO #immunity #strongimmunity #healthandwellness #seniorshealth #healthyliving #exercise #properdiet #healthylifestyle
This is how our patient review meeting looks like during the pandemic. The only difference is were not together physically but we have the same smiles, same positivity and same enthusiasm. #virtualmeetings

We came across this report about a UBC study on how seniors have been coping with the pandemic and it is a pleasant surprise to know that seniors have coped better emotionally compared to those in the lower age brackets. Here is an important resource for seniors from the Mental Health Commission of Canada about caring for mental health during the pandemic. We agree with one of the tips listed here about seniors being "open to technology." This is why we created The Virtual Therapist which addresses the need for physiotherapy and rehab to seniors in care facilities where restrictions are still in place. #mentalwellness #mentalhealth #seniorshealth #elderlycare #virtualphysiotherapy #telehealth #telerehab
Meet our newest team member, Myles Sy! Myles graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree and completed multiple work placements while doing so. He is also a member of the BC Association of Kinesiologists. Myles has experience working with different age groups including seniors, children, and young athletes. He has worked intensively with seniors suffering from various medical disorders and so, acknowledges the value of creating a pe...rsonalized and specialized program for each individual. He does this by taking the time to know each client, and understand their needs and goals. With this, he is then able to design an effective treatment plan that is backed by science and implemented with communication and understanding. In addition to his interest in the field of kinesiology, he is also an avid sports fan and enjoys watching and playing basketball in his spare time.

Its true that computers cant replace face-to-face interactions but, for some, itll do for now.
