Closure of Non-Essential Business Extended In an effort to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19, the Government of Ontario has extended the closure of non-essential businesses until May 29, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. In this order, healthcare professionals are restricted from providing anything other than emergency/urgent care. The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO)'s position is that Massage Therapists (RMTs) should not practice because CMTO does not view the practice of Massage Therapy as emergency/urgent care in this pandemic.
In an effort to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19, the Government of Ontario has extended the closure of all non-essential businesses until May 19, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. The closure of non-essential businesses means all healthcare professionals in Ontario are restricted from providing anything other than emergency/urgent care. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Massage Therapy is not emergency/urgent care, so Massage Therapists should not practice. The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) continues to work collaboratively with our health system partners on developing guidelines for return to practice when the emergency/urgent care restrictions are lifted. Stay tuned for more updates. My guess is restrictions will not be lifted before June.
I went to the office today (I work from home) and realized how much I've enjoyed being a massage therapist for more than 25 years. I look forward to seeing all of you wonderful clients again in my Goodwood home office. No word as to when massage therapists will be allowed to return to work but I will be posting as soon as I know.
This necessary "social distancing" has reminded me how much I love my work! To all my clients who have kept with me all these years I wish a healthy home and family. I miss you all!
UPDATED 20MR2020 COVID-19 Update Directive from Chief Medical Officer and FAQs for RMTs The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) understands how passionate Ontario’s Massage Therapists (MTs/RMTs) are about treating and caring for clients, and ensuring the wellbeing of clients during this pandemic. We know this has been an unprecedented and challenging time for healthcare professionals and the healthcare system. The safely of the public, including Massage Therapis...ts, is our top priority. Chief Medical Officer of Health Directive for Healthcare Providers On March 16, 2020, CMTO provided guidance to the profession strongly recommending that RMTs suspend all non-essential Massage Therapy treatments. Subsequent to CMTO’s guidance, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issued a formal directive to healthcare providers pursuant to the Health Protection and Promotion Act ordering that all non-essential and elective services be ceased or reduced to minimal levels until further notice, with allowable exceptions for time sensitive circumstances to avert or avoid negative patient outcomes or situations that would have a direct impact on the safety of client. This directive applies to all regulated health professionals and persons who operate a group practice of regulated health professionals (e.g. clinic owners).
Tight hip flexors can cause low back tension.
Please be patient with me as I update my media. I am still accepting new clients.
