Saturday, June 29, 2019 Over heard outside the show who the *^* is bambarglio.. bombargo.. After the show I would say that Bombargo has captured the ethos of the Bee Gees and spliced it onto the DNA of ‘The Who.’ An anthem for Gen Z.... They command the stage with tight vocals and an out of the blue virtuosity that allows for a freedom of expression and playfulness. There is an assured knowing that the band will easily hold to the centre even if someone wanders out into the woods of an unrehearsed improv.. everyone knows the way back to the heart of the song. Talking with lead singer Nathan Thoen after the show.. we want to bring light to the soul and to remind people that they are amazing They sing about meditation, love, addiction suffering and redemption - delivered with an iconic danceable, evangelical passion that pulls you up and holds you like a warm hug from a friend. The lead singer Nathan Thoen gets down with the audience. Literally, he steps out on to the dance floor for a Bombargo shared ‘Auhm’ like from a yoga class as it would be if led by some manifested entity of the boreal forest. The crowd crouches around Thoen like a scene from Avatar’s plant consciousness unity scene, everyone feels like they are part of something bigger than the show itself, that this really is for them. There is a sincerity here, that in world of self aggrandizing fuckery strikes a deep resonance in the heart of a generation staring down oblivion and realizing that our hope is in unity. We need community from the song ‘shakedown’. Be the fire and embrace the wind. One candle will be blown out, but on the dance floor with our ‘eyes set high’ we are fire dancing in the dragon’s jaws. This is the Bombargo experience, it has the feeling of a revival, a communion with the collective soul. Namaste mother fucker! The way you treat for friends is a reflection of the way you feel about you we are human, born into suffering but capable of rising to the challenge of our lives.. standing tall, standing together facing the synthetic heart of a culture lost in a haze of half truths seeking one pure moment to hold on to. You will find it on the dance floor and it will lift you. Bombargo live is a celebration, as the line from ‘feeling faded’its the simple things that are so easily forgot, the essential things that makes this life worth more than its not. We will raise up a tall glass of good loving on this tangerine high. James McCaul
