Interactions Matter Serve and return helps build the neural connections that build sturdy brain architecture. These connections form the foundation for learning, social-emotional development, and executive function and self-regulation (the skills that help children and adults focus, plan, prioritize, remember important details, ignore distractions, and control impulses). Because serve and return is responsive to children’s needs, supportive of what’s important to them, and playful, it also buffers them from the effects of serious stress, which is crucial for building resilience. The first three years of a child's life are especially important. What a child learns and decides about himself ("Am I loved or unloved", "capable or not capable") all become part of the "wiring" of his brain and the development of his belief system. If they believe "I don't belong" or "I'm not significant". They will find ways to fulfill these needs. (There is a belief behind every behavior.) When you discover the beliefs behind the behaviours you can help children become aware so they won't feel the need to misbehave. This invites children to re-experience the sense of belonging that they were seeking and teaches them how to get it in more constructive ways. #revolutionaryparentingcoach

Once you have a child and start getting to know other families, you quickly learn one thing: Every parent and kid is unique and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to raising and caring for a little one. Still, while no two families are exactly alike, experts have identified some common parenting styles that most of us rely on. These styles are generally based on the amount of support parents provide and the amount of control they try to exert. Only one general style is most effective in raising children who have positive qualities and behaviours. Take the quiz and discover if its yours! www.revolutionaryparenting.ca/parentingquiz
