2001 Infinity QX4 19.01.2022

My QX4 sold today, so with heavy heart I had to say "good bye" and "thank you" for many years of fun and safe driving. It is an amazing vehicle and I hope it brings many years of joy to the new owners. Guys, I guess this concludes this FB page. I won't be doing any updates, but I am still available to provide advice and troubleshooting guidance for all of you QX4 owners. Thank you for liking and following this page. ... Martin

2001 Infiniti QX4 after 16 years of being on the road. Still looks as good as new. Here are a few photos taken yesterday. The SUV is ready for another winter. Wheel wells are painted, rear drums and front calipers are painted black, and the whole SUV is as clean as it can be.

New cabin air filters were installed this morning. I think this should be a yearly routine replacement based on how dirty the filters were.

Puzzling EVAP error code P1441 - small leak in EVAP system. About a month ago this error code started to show up. I had the vehicle inspected and no problems were found. I even bought a new gas cap just in case the old one did no presurize well. The code kept on showing up about once a week under slow driving city conditions. 14 day ago I drove the SUV to San Diego. I drove it on busy highways and in cities, I drove it slow, I drove it fast, and the error code did not pop up ...once in 5000+ km. The day I returned to my home town of Chilliwack, the code reappeared. I don't understant why it had not show up once in 5000+ km and now it's back. Do you guys have any solutions, ideas? Has anyone heard of a similar situation before? June 2017 Update: Haven't seen the error code since April which is great news.

$278 CAD in fuel, 352L/93gal, to travel 2415km is not bad at all for a 17 year old SUV. That is about 14.5/L per 100km or 16 miles/US gal.

New NGK spark plugs are in. The last ones were changed about 65,000km ago. I know they would probably be good for 100,000km but why not. Two of the six I removed had very large gap, but the rest were fine. No sign of burned oil or any other deposits on the plugs. Spark plug gap = 0.43" (1.1mm) Labour = 1.75hrs Cost = $36.00... While I had everything apart I cleaned the throttle body too which was super dirty!!!!!! It idles very smooth now.

So, as I was driving yesterday the air compressor was turning on every few minutes which was really annoying. I figured one of the air lines must have a leak, but upon closer inspection, it was actually one of the Air Lift 1000 air bags that had developed a crack in it. I replaced it as I had 2 extra ones, so all is well, but I hope this will not be something I will have to deal with again anytime soon. I might have to keep it inflated at 15lbs not 10lbs to prevent this from happening again.
