We have developed an Emergency Alert System as a way to provide time sensitive information to residents in the event of emergency. The recent evacuation certai...nly allowed all of us to recognize the importance of residents receiving emergency information in a timely manner. Although the Emergency Alert System wasn’t available for this recent fire emergency we are now ready to go live with this program. The program will allow for emergency information to be sent to any or all of the following sources: Text message Email message Telephone call to landline phone Residents are strongly encouraged to register for this alert system. Please register at www.redlake.ca/alert

Trash to Treasure Days! Starting Saturday, September 5th. Trash to Treasure Day is an initiative of the Environment, Parks, Recreation Advisory Committee. This is an opportunity for residents to share gently used, unwanted household items with treasure hunters. The goal is to reuse items rather than sending them to the landfill. Join your neighbours throughout the Red Lake area each first Saturday of the month beginning Saturday, September 5th! How to participate: 1. Collect ...unwanted items. 2. Place them by the curb where treasure hunters can safely access them. 3. Create a sign to let treasure hunters know that your items are up for grabs. 4. Collect all remaining items by 4:00 pm. If anyone wants to "pay it forward" to the camp owners that helped you during the evacuation, we need at least 500 signatures for this petition to be certified ...and it will be presented to the House of Commons. This is the first time the government will actually have to respond to our plea for help. You must be a Canadian Citizen to sign... so far we are only at 264 signatures so we need lots more! Thank you so much and we're glad everyone is back home, safe and sound! <3 See more

Update from MNRF - August 18, 2020 (pm)

Enbridge Gas is making good progress in restoring natural gas service to homes and businesses in Red Lake and area. Our representatives will be going door-to-do...or today until 9 p.m., and we’ll resume tomorrow at 7 a.m. All our representatives will have ID. If you’re not home, we’ll leave information for you to schedule a visit. To help our crews move efficiently through the restoration of service please ensure that your address is visible, the path to your gas meter is clear and accessible, and that any pets are put away while we enter your home to turn on your gas appliances. In addition, we’re asking homeowners to assist our out-of-town crews to identify their address by posting a sign on their front door, or in their window, that states the street number and street name of their home. For your safety, please do not relight your gas appliances and wait for our trained utility representatives to do so safely. If you smell gas, please call our emergency line at 1-877-969-0999. Thank you for your patience as we complete this work. See more

Update from MNRF - August 17, 2020

My Red Lake 28.03.2020

Important Notice to the Residents of the Municipality of Red Lake! As noted in previous communications, the fire (RED049) which had threatened our community is ...considered to be 100% contained and does not pose a threat to our Municipality. Please be advised that at 7:00 a.m. Sunday, August 16th, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) will be rescinding the Implementation Order restricting the access to the Municipality of Red Lake. Residents at that time are allowed to safely re-enter the community(s) and are not required to register upon your return. Should a resident have questions or require assistance, please call 2-1-1. We are advised by Enbridge (Natural Gas) that services to residential and commercial properties may take up to five (5) days to restore services throughout the Municipality. For those residents re-entering the communities of Madsen and Starrett Olsen. As a result of the damage caused by RED049, Bell fibre optic services are not available at this time and therefore restricts resident’s ability to access 911 services. As you are re-entering at your own risk, the Municipality requests those individuals/households who do not own and/or have access to a cellular device to call 2-1-1 and provide notification of such. As it will take some time for community to get back to some level of normalcy, we do advise that the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Hospital will maintain emergency services only until such time that Enbridge (Natural Gas) services are fully restored to the hospital. The hospital requests that families of inpatients please contact the hospital at 807-727-3811 to discuss repatriation of their loved ones. It is essential to make telephone contact, prior to the patient’s return to the Hospital. It is imperative that motorists travel with patience as traffic may be congested at times. The safe passage of all travelers is of extreme importance and the OPP will have an increased presence on our Highways. These have been very difficult times for all of us. I cannot express enough how important it is for our residents to take their time, abide by the Provincial mandated speed limits, and travel with caution as you make your way back to your homes. Mayor Mota

To the evacuees of Red Lake We have received positive reports from the MNRF with regards to the status of RED49. The fire is now 100% contained. We thank all... those essential services for their tremendous work! The MNRF Fire Fighters, Volunteer Fire Fighters as well as all other essential services who remained in the community to ensure the safety and well-being of our community and residents. This is great news HOWEVER residents need to be patient as we start the repatriation (re-entry of residents into the community). Crews are in the process of restoring critical infrastructure (Natural Gas) in order to first get our Hospital running at full capacity. Further, other essential services need to be restored such as grocery stores, gas stations, etc. We remind residents that there continues to be an Implementation Order in effect until further notice and no person (other than essential personnel) shall enter the community and surrounding areas without a travel permit. To obtain a travel permit please call (807) 727-1349, (807) 727-1338 (807) 727-1333. Please remain patient. We will provide updates later today.
