Buy local. I live in Summerside and enjoy making masks for you. You can order by messaging me. I would love to hear from you. Masks with filter are $7. Fold mas...ks with pocket $5. Masks for tots under 5 years $3. I will be absorbing most of the cost of my masks for tots because I know how young families are struggling to make ends meet. I will have better selection of children's masks soon. See more

Another little ramble. Another day, fall leaves are falling, the sun is warm, and the breeze is cool. Fall colors are everywhere. And my friends are dying, like... dry leaves, they are falling. God is gathering his harvest. Should I weep or rejoice? Maybe I should do both. Weep for my loss and rejoice for their gain. I will rejoice because heaven is rejoicing and God knows what is best. And my tears will fall for a season like leaves in autumn for grief like life is but a season. See more

Just Another Little Ramble by Myrna. ... Today my husband and I went to visit a friend in a nursing home. I will call him Dan. He has been in this home for several years. Dan has always been a talker. He loves to talk. Dan can carry on a conversation with anyone, about anything. Today he seems emotional, just a little sad. Maybe our visit has made him homesick. I feel he is trying hard to hold it all together. No longer is he retelling the old stories that we have heard for years. Instead, he longing to go for a car drive to see the changes that are taking place in this community that he knows so well. The only time he gets to have a car drive is when he goes to Charlottetown to see a doctor and that’s in an ambulance. Not the most enjoyable ride. The New Year has just begun and he is already longing for spring so he can at least open the window and smell the fresh air. He would love to be able to go to the woods and cut fire wood, like he used to do. To smell the wind and feel the snow kissing his face. But the only thing he can do on his own is eat. He’s confined to a wheel chair, a bed, a room, a unit, a building. The home is sectioned off into small units with several bedrooms, a kitchen and community room. This has it advantages for those that need a routine, familiar workers, etc. But for my friend that has his mind and needs to be able to interact with people this is a disadvantage and makes for a lonely existences. Free but not free. It gives new meaning to solitary confinement. He says the nursing home is a good place, the staff is kind, the food is good. He’s warm and safe but. But they can not replace family. If you have a loved one in a nursing home, I encourage you to visit them as often as you can. Ask the staff if you can bring your dog or cat, your kids, grandkids. You don’t need to stay long. Just fifteen minutes will brighten their day and give them something to smile about. See more
