A very heartfelt thank you to Constable Richard Roger's of Cavan for posthumously donating boxes of Martial Arts equipment, uniforms and books to our dojo. Special thanks to his wife Heidi and daughter Lori for honouring his wishes and choosing Mystic Mountain. Although we never met, I cannot help but feel we are spiritually connected by the warrior heart. Helping at-risk kids and low income families to learn the wisdom of the arts and make wiser life-choices has been a big p...art of both our moral compasses. Although he never studied our art, it was especially touching to see that over half of his books were about our particular martial style. I speak for all our students when I say we appreciate, and will benefit, from this charitable contribution on behalf of the Roger's family. Thank you so much for your kindness! Anyone wishing to learn the traditional arts but feel they cannot afford them, please reach out. If you have old martial arts uniforms or equipment just laying around and would like to donate to a worthy cause, please email [email protected]. I assure you that your donations will be used wisely to benefit children and adults alike. Frank Hill mysticmountaindojo.com

The greatest reward to being a paramedic can be grasping that death has no age. Conversely, the greatest injury to being a paramedic can be that death has no age. Stop worrying about yesterday or tomorrow, you may not live through today. 65626

At 57 years of age, I am now the same age my master was the day I met him in 1987. In 1982, I first heard about this legendary master that had high ranks in man...y traditional Japanese martial arts who also received the scrolls of six Samurai and three Ninjutsu martial arts schools. Yet, I did not believe that Ninjutsu existed until the first time he asked me to attack him. As nice a man as he was, I didn't hold anything back. After all, that's what I was there to do and if he was a true master, there's no way I should be able to hit him. If I did, I was on the next plane home disappointed at myself for wasting my money. He did not disappoint! This man had something unbelievably difficult to describe and looking back, I am completely humbled by his teachings. Somewhat ashamed of myself for doing it, I tested him again in 2010. At age 79, I could not believe or describe what I felt. When asked, I said that "it's like being in a different dimension!" I received a lot of strange looks and yet I was embarrassed to tell people that I didn't hold back and that I wanted to test him one more time. I resolved to describe the pain. Truth is, I felt like he had not aged at all from the day I first met him. Paul does a great job of expressing feelings that cannot really be put into words. At 88, Hatsumi Sensei has achieved global notoriety for sharing his art with some of the most powerful forces in the world and it always gives me chills to sit in front of his wall of fame - a wall covered by gifts, awards and photographs from World Leaders, Royalty and Chiefs of various Special Operations. I was fortunate enough to be there when Sensei was presented with awards at the Tokyo Budokan from the Director and Special Service Agents of the FBI before an audience of nearly 300 students from around the world. As with so many others, I am both blessed and touched by our master, our mentor, and just such a beautiful human-being.
