30 day stay motion defeated last night 4 votes to 2. Sean had logical arguments for his motion but Council members obviously weren't interested except for Rob Seeley who voted for it. Councillor Sandford main argument against the motion was it would put more units available for rent, thereby increasing rental unit competition and pushing down rental rates which would hurt existing RB1 home owners who rent suits in their house. WHAT I thought we needed more rental units on the... market with lower rental rates. Here's my take on those voting against: I couldn't understand Councillor McCallum's arguments against it, she seemed to vote against what her arguments supported. She was rude to Sean, at one time telling him 'get off his cross, somebody needs the wood'. Councillor Russell: just said it's (zoning) is all a mess and won't vote for it. Mayor Barrowman: said they are already doing a lot for rental and affordable housing, don't need this. WHAT
