Wednesday morning we are doing a bunch of pushing and pulling, let's goooooo!!! I miss lifting heavy things at the gym, but teaching kids to master the basics of this stuff is like my 3rd or 4th favourite thing to do I'm having a ton of fun and the many messages I am receiving means the world to me. Speaking of global domination, My Strength Society is now represented in at least four provinces and TWO countries. That's right, we have reached Germany and we are only on vide...o #2. Big shout out to @felix_ka91 for promoting us across the pond. He is the (Ger)man. Gather all the weights in yo house for tomorrow's workout. Do it for YOURSELF! Workout #1 was posted at 6 a.m. and we've had about 100 full views already, from 3 different provinces! Great work people!!! Let's get this ship sailing here! Read to the end for some good news!!! Okay.. once again schools are closed and I am slowly losing my mind. For myself, I was finally starting to feel like life was normal again, only for everything to be brought back to Alert Level 5 this weekend. For many people I know, the last 12 months has been absolutely terrible. The physical, mental, emotional and financial toll that this pandemic has brought on to our society is insane (and luckily I don't even know anyone who has act...ually contracted the disease....) Right now it feels like we are back at square one. In a time like this, we need to remind ourselves how strong we are. We need to keep going, we need to keep working toward a goal and to keep focusing on something positive. Dig In and Just keep going Use this time to build a skill, learn something new, or catch up on some things you've been ignoring. Like your HEALTH. _________________________________ Cue @mystrengthsociety As long as things are shut down, I will be posting free workouts on my YouTube channel. Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week I'll be posting home workouts that will kick your butt and take your mind off of Covid-19 for a half hour or so. These workouts are exactly what I would normally do with high school and elementary aged kids. It will be challenging. Please share and follow along! We are on Facebook, insta and YouTube. Our programming is officially starting in March and you can sign up at our website, but all the content will be free on YouTube for as long as we are in lockdown. Hey everyone look how much I can lift !!! I am shameless ... Just kidding, no one cares.. but I did have a little breakthrough at the gym this morning. Kinda impressive since I ate a full bag of Miss Vickis chips to myself last night, but anyway... Today on trap bar deadlifts I worked up to pulling 385lbs, 8 times. It felt super light, it was just one of those days where you feel great in the gym and this was a PR for me. PR meaning 'personal record', something that you should always be chasing when it comes to exercise. It was also a PR in how easy it felt and I know I did it with my best form. I didn't struggle at all and I probably could've gotten 10 reps. PRs come in more ways than just a number on the bar (but it does put my 1RM around 460lbs ) Anyways, the real point of this post is to talk about longevity. No one really cares how much you can lift, except for what it means to yourself. At 30 years old I'm stronger than I've ever been, I plan on being stronger at 40 and stronger again at 50. I'll do this by: - lifting heavy things safely 3x a week - prioritizing eating protein - eating lots of fruits and veggies - drinking a ton of water - trying to sleep 8hrs a night. I'M HERE TO TEACH YOU KIDS THAT THAT IS LITERALLY ALL YOU HAVE TO DO. IT'S HARD THOUGH, IF IT WASN'T, EVERYONE WOULD BE FIT AS A FIDDLE. BEING WEAK IS HARD TOO.
