Cozy (Koh-zee) I’ve had this pillow for a few years now but it’s kinda blended into the background and I haven’t read it in a while. I get a freakin gold star!!! This is my composting toilet... Yes composting. It works by filling the base half way up with peat moss and as you use it it magically separates the liquids from the solids.... The liquids go into the front compartment with the handle and is easily emptied about once per week. The solids go into the base and after you use the toilet you use that dial on the right hand side to mix things up so that decomposition starts. There is a little fan that exhausts any smells outside and 95% of the time it just feels like a normal toilet. Today... Today was the other 5% and after dreading this day for weeks now it needed to be emptied and cleaned. I honestly didn't think I would be able to do it but I did it!! Not only did I have to deal with what is inside (barf) but I also figured out how to take it all apart and put it back together again clean! Gold star for me!! I can do hard things! Now off to a relaxing hot bath! Wooo hoo!! My couch has arrived!! No more bean bagging it for me! It's a bit stiff, but I will break it in in short order lol. I wanted one that had storage of course, but also one that converted to a bed. So now I have my king bed, the couch as a double bed and a single in the loft. Lots of beds to pick from. Who says you have to go small in order to live tiny?... Only a few more things to do and then I will do the grand reveal! Reality post! Since I've been in my tiny I have been dying to have a hot bath in my beautiful new tub. However, I haven't figured out how to keep the hot water hot enough to fill the bath? (first world problems, I know) I've tried several different things but they have all resulted in me sitting in 2 inches of leuke warm water with a pouty face wondering what to do next. Sad day. ... But tonight... Tonight I had an amazing call with @themombabes ladies that I'm writing a book with and I listened as 5 of the authors shared their stories. All I can say for now is that I was moved to tears, laughed my ass off and left feeling inspired, strong and grateful. (This book is going to make a difference for people!) So instead of looking at the bath with a sad face.. I figured... If you want a hot bath... Make it happen dammit!! So I got out my pots and filled them up and waited patiently for them to boil while also managing to get a small hot stream of water going in the tub. Yes, the water is yellow (well water), and my method untraditional, but right now as I sit here soaking it up... Going tiny isn't all rainbows and unicorns... And if I'm going to share the process with you, I'm going to share the whole process. Today I saw that the urine bucket (yes, the urine bucket.. I have a composting toilet) was filling up so I decided to empty it before it became too full. When I released it from position a flood of pee filled up the container it was sitting in?!? (That is not supposed to happen!) Somehow it had backed up and when I removed the bucket it all cam...e pouring down!!! Ugh!! Gross! I go to clean up the mess and realize I don't have paper towels... So I use a full roll of toilet paper to sop it up. When I go to wash up after, I am quickly reminded that I have no water. My hose froze last night with the cold snap we are having. Ugh again! Thank goodness I have bottled water. I head off to Travel land RV to buy a $300 heated hose , come back and try getting it working but alas, I needed a wrench and didn't have one. I figure I will just warm up quickly inside and then approach my neighbor to borrow theirs and as I'm sitting in my living room looking outside, a bird fly's smack into the window... I just heard the noise and saw the feathers and didn't have high hopes for what I would find outside. I head outside in my housecoat (because it's freezing outside) to help the bird and quickly realized I have no idea what to do. So, I call my new friend and neighbor and she comes over to help with the bird. As we were on hold with the SPCA the bird started moving again. Thank goodness! It must have just been shocked or something. Poor thing! While we are outside chatting (still in my housecoat), I show her the hose and she heads off to grab her wrench. We wrestle with it for a bit and then call another neighbor over to help and while we are playing with it, the power goes out. At this point I'm just laughing... (still outside in my housecoat... With all my new neighbours ) It's all part of the adventure and while some of it stinks, so much of it is everything I hoped for. So, I just bundled up in some sweaters, my housecoat and my heating blanket, sipped some tea and cheers'd myself. To new adventures!! Xo J

Sneak peak of my kitchen in the tiny home!! Loving the decorating process and adjusting well to a smaller space. As you can see, I love collecting vintage items and can still do that in a small space without it being too busy. Looking forward to my blinds and couch arriving so I'm not living in a fishbowl and sitting on the floor lol... Couple more weeks! Progress update! The bedroom is almost done now. Just have to replace the two sconces once they arrive. Look at how tight that bed is!! Not even a cm on either side of the headboard. One of my favorite things so far in my tiny house is listening to the sound of the rain on the metal roof. I have always loved this sound and purposely chose this roof design for optimal listening pleasure. Now I don't need to put on rain soundtracks for me to fall asleep... I just listen to what's happening right here in my home.
