We believe that students of the University of Toronto deserve it too. We worked very hard throughout the semester, and deserve a prolonged break. It would also help ensure students are effective when they return to study in the winter term, and that it will give time to recover from a difficult term. For a... lot of students, this would be an opportunity to go back home to their families for Christmas and come back on time without missing school for quarantine and endangering others in our community. All members of the University of Toronto are invited to attend "U of T Trans Day of Remembrance: Coming Together in Solidarity" from 1:00 - 1:45 pm (EST) over Zoom. Registration is required for this free event. Link to registration form below. This event, hosted live by U of T students, will feature performances from multiple trans/nonbinary artists: - Artist/poet/storyteller Leon Tsai - Musician and poet Genesis... - Multidisciplinary performer and writer Heath V. Salazar also known as drag king Gay Jesus For the past few years, we have folded origami flowers at some of our TDoR events. We will be continuing this tradition virtually. To participate, all you need are scissors and an letter sized piece of paper (8.5" by 11"). After the performances, we will be screening a pre-recorded instructional video and sharing step-by-step slides for attendees to create their own origami flowers as an act of remembrance of lives lost. At the end of this event, attendees will get a sneak peak of U of T's Trans Day of Remembrance digital banner, which will be shared publicly after the event.
