Big kudos going out to blogTO and Retrontario for a great trip down memory lane, or should we say, 'memory corner'. Great article about the #legacy of Speakers Corner https://bit.ly/SpeakersBlogTV Founded by Moses Znaimer in 1990, the show pioneered the opportunity for viewers to become participants, and have their opinions heard on the air, long before the days of posting your thoughts on YouTube. In the nineties, if you were passing by CityTV Toronto's Queen Street stud...ios, you could toss a buck into the original Speakers Corner booth, to be heard by the masses. It wasn't long before the concept took to other corners, with a (bookable) moblie #SpeakersCorner unit. Inside the MZTV Museum of Television gallery, on permanent display, is the very first (prototype). Check it out here on our virtual tour https://bit.ly/SCprototype Can you spot a young #MikeMeyers in this 1994 promo? Share your Speakers Corner memories in the comments. Did you ever throw a looney into the booth? What did you say, back in the day?

25 years ago, Moses Znaimer's MZTV Museum of Television opened its doors for the first time as the "Watching TV" exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum. The exhibit was later presented at the Canadian Museum of History, the Cinémathèque québécoise, and the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies. Since then, the #museum has grown into the world class institution it is today. Let's reflect, and take a look back at our first promo video for the #WatchingTV exhibit.

We all learned a lot of new fascinating facts about the #technology of #TV and how it evolved in the 20th Century. Darryl was a great tour guide and gave us personal insights. There were only six folks visiting so it felt like a private tour. Well recommended for a quick visit."... Take a look at what JMM181720 said about the MZTV Museum of Television on TripAdvisor: "We visited this unique museum for a solid 90 minute fascinating tour into the evolution of #television. It's a historical journey featuring the development of this medium - the inventors, the investors and the manufacturers. The visitor explores the very beginnings of the TV #technology, and is privy to seeing numerous priceless artifacts such as the original #TV sets owned by Elvis and Ma...rilyn Monroe, as well as the actual real "Felix the Cat" model which was the subject of the very first moving images ever broadcast by this medium. You will see TVs dating back from the very beginnings of its existence, up till the the last 3 decades. The museum is not large, but for its lack of "Smithsonian magnitude", it makes up for in sheer value per item on display. Anyone who has watched television owes it to themselves to explore this #museum, to appreciate the journey this communication medium has taken... ... If you can manage to adjust your schedule to make the visit, it's worth the trip to the heart of Toronto's Liberty Village."
