We Are Womxn (WAW) is a national digital-first initiative empowering Indigenous, Black, Womxn of Color, and LGBTQ2S+ womxn-identifying food & beverage entrepreneurs in all of the Canadian provinces and territories through one-on-one mentorships, grant opportunities, a business interview series, and other transformative offerings to be announced later this year. COVID-19 has exponentially exacerbated the barri...ers womxn in Canada face to starting, scaling, and succeeding in business, particularly in the food and beverage industry. Access to capital, systemic racism, gender stereotypes, and sexism affect Indigenous and LGBTQ2S+ womxn-identifying persons at an even higher rate. This year, NACCA committed to supporting Indigenous womxn's entrepreneurship, with the goal of increasing the number of Indigenous women entrepreneurs accessing financing through the AFI network by 50% by 2025.
