I am grateful to all the bassoonists, friends, neighbours, singers, trumpeters, libraries, bookstores and others who have bought my new book. Solitary Refinement has stayed on the publisher’s bestsellers list since it’s release on December 9... can that possibly continue? Or will we run out of bassoonists to buy it??? Solitary Refinement has been on @FreisenPress bestsellers list since it’s release day of December 9, 2020 https://books.friesenpress.com//Nadina-Mackie-Jackson-Soli
It was fun to do rapid online events that gave people a fleeting idea of what my freehand reedmaking process is... there are also my rough-n-ready videos on my YouToob channel that review the steps... and I offer a gentle reminder that this process can work for any style, shape, dimension and that you can either copy your existing shape, experiment with new shapes, experiment with making small adjustments to your existing shape. It is very valuable to keep accurate records of each attempt and for best results, maintain your high standards of finishing and measuring. In the beginning, I would also trace the finished shape into my notebooks as part of the learning process tho I no longer do that. Anything that is worthy of your attention can be recorded and examined and integrated into your awareness and skills.
Pokey has been my reed-making familiar for two decades now
