Since the beginning of Covid, staff are often asked how the pandemic is impacting their ministries. I’ve a friend that’s worked with NAIM for 25 years and lives in a large city. He doesn’t get a lot of attention or fanfare but he’s faithfully plugged away; ministering to people, sharing his faith and counselling individuals and families with a whole-hearted commitment to God’s Word and trust in the power of the Spirit to transform lives. His primary focus is prison ministr...y. During these pandemic days, when visitors and outside people are not allowed to enter the doors of the Correctional facilities, he’s one of two ministers who have been granted access. God is using him to love and minister to a segment of our society who desperately need the power of Jesus to make changes in their lives. He told me, "Myself and another Christian man are the only Chaplains allowed to enter the Correctional. There are no Catholic Masses and no Protestant services. I teach 6 bible studies (6 units) and run two Alpha courses (2 units) each week. My friend does Alpha courses to 2 other units and bible studies, plus we both see about 10-15 individuals a week in one-on-one counselling. There are 485 (give or take 12 or so each day) at the Correctional who have no other Christian witness." This is the work of the Lord. See more
