NAIT Personal Fitness Trainer Program 06.11.2020

The CSEP Professional Standards Program (CSEP-PSP), specifically the CSEP-PSP Committee, is looking to focus a more inclusive and diverse lens upon its certifications, publications, and member training. Recognizing that the Committee does not have this expertise itself, they are embarking on the process to create a Working Group to meet this need. The Committee is looking for a diverse group of individuals from the health and fitness field who represent not only an academic... or policy-based understanding of the issues of inclusivity and ensuring diversity, but, just as importantly, those with lived experiences. The first area of focus for the Working Group will be the issue of sex and gender and ensuring the use of inclusive language in the certification process and publications, as well as providing resources to guide certified members in their training of clients. This work will then continue across the spectrum of diversity for inclusion of race, religion, and so forth. If you have any questions about the Working Group, please feel free to contact to contact the CSEP Program Director, Bridget Lett ([email protected]). The PFT program is looking for practicum sites for our Work-Integrated Learning (Final Practicum) course for January 2021. We know it's crazy times, and we have students that are trained and ready to help! We've adjusted for COVID-19 so you can have a student in-person, virtual, or a combination of both. Alumni Profile: Michael Fouts, PFT Program 2015, Owner of OverHaul Fitness - an Online and Mobile Personal Training company. Why NAIT? I chose NAIT because I wanted something thorough, and something that wasn’t easily attainable - like some of the certifications out there. I wanted my future clients to know that I put the time and effort in to ensure that I knew what I was doing to best serve them.... I also chose NAIT because of the flexibility of being able to do the program online. Advice for PFT students: Apply what you are learning as much as possible, that’s where the real learning happens. The practicum will help you with this, but don’t just rely on this. Meet up with fellow classmates, friends, family, and practice instructing them through various exercises, explaining different workout programs, etc. That’s where you’ll start to understand where your gaps in knowledge and confidence are, then work to improve these areas.
