Today was an exciting and busy day. I officially started the demo on my new building. I look forward to sharing the progress with you and cannot wait to be part of our downtown core! A big thank you to all of the helping hands. These boys worked hard and I am beyond greateful. Thanks to all of those friends and family who stopped by today. Exciting times ahead!

Mildmay: Spotlight #3 This is the third and final "spotlight" on Mildmay businesses. As parents we recognize the value of team sports and have encouraged our ki...ds to get involved in sports from a young age. There's a ton of great life lessons you can extract from team sports...how to work together to achieve a common goal... the value of hard work and prioritizing where your time and efforts go... being able to celebrate and share the thrill of victory...and someone to lean on when experiencing the agony of defeat...the value of teamwork...learning to work with people who you may not otherwise associate with...learning to trust your teammates...picking them up when they fall short...and letting them pick you up when you do...we could go on and on. Mildmay turned out to be a great place for our children to participate. It may or may not have been a conscious decision for every parent like it was for us...it's just what they do...but holy smokes, they do it well! You'll might see kids from other towns wearing a Western Ontario Championship jacket in an arena. Mildmay kids win so many they don't even bother with a jacket. Many can count on 2 or 3 fingers the years they did NOT win it during their minor hockey careers. They save the jackets for provincial championships. Some have a jacket for Ontario Championships...with the years won listed down the sleeve! One year Mildmay minor hockey won OMHA provincial championships at 3 different age classes! It's not just hockey. Mildmay baseball players boast plenty of provincial and national championships. When our son played volleyball at Sacred Heart High School, 5 of 6 starters were from Mildmay. When the Sacred Heart Senior Boys hockey team won the provincial championship a year ago over a third of them were from Mildmay. Sure they've also tasted their share of adversity, but together, the find a way to overcome. Rarely do you see Mildmay kids pair off as "best friends". Usually they hang out in groups...the same cohesion that makes them successful in sports carries on in "real life". Being shoulder to shoulder in the trenches, experiencing the same trials and tribulations creates the opportunity for life-long friendships. Heck, they've got great examples, their parents were friends when THEY were kids! They may go their separate ways to post-secondary schools and choose different careers but that bond has cemented them, and in many cases, they come home to establish their families and careers and maintain those friendships. And that's where we jump into this spotlight. Another awesome family with whose lives our family has intertwined, and our boys are fast friends, is that of Trevor and Anne Marie Dietz. Anne Marie owns Namaste Salon and Spa. When you're driving from Clifford it's the building on the right just before you get to the grocery store. It's a bright and shiny, clean, upbeat but relaxing full service hair salon and spa that welcomes women and men. Anne Marie and her protege Tanya bring the same high level skill set and wide range of services demanded by the trendsetting diva's of Beverly Hills and New York. Well the moment has finally arrived and on Friday I will be able to reopen my doors. I have a very long list of clients to contact. Please note that I will do my absolute best to get everyone in in a timely manner. There will be some changes so I ask you all to please be patient.
