The Nanaimo Hospital Gift Shop requires staff to volunteer one morning or afternoon a week. Volunteers work in teams of two. The Gift Shop serves patients, families, visitors and employees for the purpose of raising funds for the non-medical needs of the Nanaimo Hospital. A commitment of six months is required. On Thursday April 11, the Chamber of Commerce Business Awards were held at the Port Theatre. We were very pleased that our Thrift Shop took the category for Social Enterprise. Phil Robling and Lois Ohlhausen accepted the award on our behalf. We want to thank all the wonderful volunteers who work so hard everyday at the store and, of course, our customers without whom we could not donate so much money to the hospital.
