Nanaimo Boxing

This outlines the history of how the Nanaimo Boxing club got started in 1971. However, it also sets the record straight as to whom started what and when, why and how.

These two photos cover the broad range of the Nanaimo Boxing Club from junior boxers to senior citizens volunteering and supporting the club. Kevin "Booper" Maughan and Mrs. Dorothy Runacres, are but two of the many that have been part of the Nanaimo Boxing Club from 1971 to 2012.

Another lost warrior STEVE VENUTI Some may remember Steve back in the 1979 and 1980 time period In the 1979 Bronze Gloves, young Steve would be one of the stars... of the show. His Nanaimo team mates in that tournament were DEAN BOHM and WADE MARLING. One of his coaches was JOE PRESTON and some of his club mates in those years would be the likes of DON PRESTON, RON WILLIAMS, KEVIN MAUGHAN and LYLE JACK. See more
