Today our thoughts and prayers are with the incredible team, members and families of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. The loss of Captain Jennifer Casey, the tea...m’s Public Affairs Officer and injuries to Captain Richard MacDougall, one of the team’s coordinators and pilot of the aircraft hits close to home. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds were deployed on Operation INSPIRATION, a cross-Canada tour to lift the spirits of Canadians and salute front-line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of the accident, the CF Snowbirds where taking off from the airport in Kamloops headed for CFB Comox. Pictured here is the Safety team for the 2019 Snowbirds demonstration in Nanaimo. The Snowbirds visit Nanaimo often. For many years, the Loyal Nanaimo Bathtub Society has provided the World’s Biggest Bathtub to be used as an Ambassador and or Centre of Show in Nanaimo Harbour. In 2018, with the Big Tub attending events in Vancouver, our friends from Extreme Fiberglass helped resurrect the Original Big Tub for Centre of Show responsibilities. Big thanks to Sky Harrold and the rest of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds team for making us all feel like we are part of the family. We can’t wait to see you all again soon

At this time, due to COVID-19 and the parameters in place for Festivals/gatherings by our Provincial Health Authority/Local and Provincial Governments, the LNBS... Sanctioned Races, Parades, Marine Festival, Big Race and Bathtub Weekend events are effectively cancelled for the 2020 season. With respect to tubbers, safety crews and volunteer's we cannot safely host these events. The LNBS Board will continue to monitor the guidelines outlined by Governing authorities. If there is a change and/or opportunity to host a race this season, we will advise & seek advice/input from LNBS Members/Tubbers on how we could proceed. See more
